Why dont we produce fast bowlers?

^^ probably the role models are the only necessity. Pakistan have placid pitches, but those guys bowl fast, as well as the West Indians.

I saw an 20 yr old kid bowling regularly at 140s.there are couple of other new comers as well.bt that kid was the youngest.handful of guys bowled at mid 130s.

Firstly, why does India hate DRS? All the arguments i've heard are stupid. I figure DRS = less 'benefit of the doubt'...so bad for bowlers and India is a batting team, so.... But behind that Q is another: why aren't there hordes of quality fast bowlers coming out of India? Can't help but think these two are linked. Any insight appreciated. Kulasekara may be military medium, but SL did produce more than it's fair share of quick bowlers. Malinga was a 150k bowler for two seasons, and still gets up to 145k on occasions. Nuwan Pradeep gets up to 145k. Fernando, after 10 years of debut, still gets it to 145k. There was few instances where bowlers did bowl very quick spells (Ex. Prasad, against India, Nissanka against WI). Even few guys in FC circuit is hitting 140k in the SLPL. The same pattern we could see in India too. It's not that we don't have quick bowlers, but they break down in such a frequency, 75% of the time we are without a fast bowler

i think Indians generally bowl much quicker than Srilankans, this is because physically Indians are built bigger than Srilankans. :cantstop: dont try to sneak in some numbers here...if a few odd deliveries in limited overs cricket makes one a fast bowler then we can find too many names in India. Even manpreet gony bowled a few 140+ deliveries.. The point is a fast bowler should bowl around 90 miles in a test atleast through a spell, the way Yadav/Ishant do or Steyn/Morkel have been doing. SL have never had one such bowler.

We have a system where bowlers have to perform in domestic circuit consistently in order to be selected. That's not easy because the pitches in India are not conducive to fast bowling. And by the time they get to the national side, they are already injury prone and get sidelined after a couple of seasons. This has to be rectified and BCCI has to learn how to handle fast bowlers. You cant treat fast bowlers like spinners and expect them to take wickets consistently in domestic conditions. You have to draft them in when you see talent and use them mostly in foreign conditions.

With the exception of the selection of Cummins for Australia, that is what all countries do.

The most easiest way is to setup a deal with the ECB and send them to play in England for the county season. But, the egocentric BCCI will never do that :facepalm:

for a team has supposedly has NO PHAAAASHT BOLLERS (completely wrong, but i'll play along anyway) india has sure been one really ****ing successful team...LOL. i'm not sure its a good idea for india to have deadly sub-25 averaging bowlers. could u imagine our batting lineup paired up with a dale steyn and morkel? that team would be unbeatable and it would make cricket boring for everyone else. the paki kuttas would quit cricket, LOL.
