Well what can you expect when players like him filled Indian team then who always lost the match in their minds even before the matches began they were so overawed by their opponents and it still reflects in their commentary even today that loser attitude. We won the match because there were some great moments. It wasn't a very impressive performance by India right through. I would like to know what is impressive performance then. India typically wins on some great moments that come through exceptional individuals. Guy like Sachin had to carry these Bozos on his back for a decade and guys like him and Azharuddin still have nerve to talk negative about him.

In fact I struggle to remember even one match-winning knock from him. And now he has the nerve to talk s**t about the likes of Tendulkar! India batted first and scored 287 in the game - Sidhu and Tendulkar providing a solid start and Jadeja ramming home the advantage in the end - despite Manjrekar slowing down the scoring in the middle overs. Then India bowled brilliantly once the opening stand was broken. In fact all the bowlers were good with Prasad and Kumble leading the way and you should see the caught and bowled by Kumble to dismiss one of the Pak batsman - most probably Inzi. So the batting was good, bowling was solid and fielding was pretty decent and it is still not a complete performance? I remember India won pretty comfortably in the end - by 45 runs or so. I guess Manjrekar is trying to say that all the other folks performed other than him and that's why India won.

He's what he is due to the likes of Tendulkar. Without Tendulkar carrying him he wouldn't have managed to stay in the team for so long and mint money like he's doing right now as an "expert commentator" or "cricket analyst".

Before the 2000's, India hardly got players that would stand up and fight. Sachin just had to do it all with few others not as talented as him like kumble,Srinath and Venky. Luckily after the WC, we got ganguly and dravid and by the end of 90's got rid of Azhar. The older players who debuted in the early and mid 90's thankfully re-structured Indian cricket and what a new player was expected to do.

Sorry if I don't buy yet another addition to the "Aman ki Asha"-claptrap, but I find it very hard to believe that someone like Miandad would do something like "hug the opposition and display emotions" shortly after a rather heart-breaking loss. I understand him being emotional on account of that game being his last ever, but why would he spend such a moment with the opposition and not share it with his own colleagues? That said, I'd have no problems believing Manjrekar's story if it is corroborated by Miandad.

Yup, Tendulkar got out around 100 and he had scored 65 out of the total score! And if you read the article it seems as if Manjrekar and Tendulkar were taking the team to victory but the truth was "Tendulkar wins it or we lose the game". Tendulkar was out unluckily as he stepped out of the crease thinking there might be a run without realizing the ball was with Kaluwitharna and got stumped. That was the end as far as India were concerned and the likes of Manjrekar simply threw in the white flag. Manjrekar was the classic case of making up the numbers in the team similar to the likes of Jacob Martin, Sujith Somasunder, Gagan Khoda, Kanitkar, Vikram Rathore etc. All these guys in 90s were lousy and wouldn't even get a look-in in India B squad if they were playing today.

I will give him props for that when compared to cliche ridden shastri or Sunny. Unfortunately he is in a long list of pseudo intellectual articulates of our country in the mould of Barkha dutt, Rajdeep Sardesai,Prannoy Roy who think it is cooler to patronise everything against us and dwell in self-criticism rather than highlight the positives.
