Lankan Strategy Backfires

I have seen it for more than a decade that when ever an important match is played or for that any match is played at Premadasa,Lankans will bat 1st and then it is impossible to chase on that pitch when the 2nd innings come.I have seen India lose a few finals that way.Whenever Lanka has to bat 2nd againist a good team they lose. The same happened today,Afridi and Rehman tightened the screws and Lanka imploded. They need to revisit this strategy as now most teams know that when you win the toss you bat 1st.

What strategy should they revisit? How can they change the stadium or the weather conditions which makes chasing impossible at certain venues? They just do what every team would do in those kind of conditions - bat first. The onus is on the organizers to stop day night matches at venues like Premadasa and Durban. But why would they when the public is sucker enough to take such lop sided conditions as a 'sporting' contest.

The team bowling first at Premdase has to look to pick up wkts all the time and have some sort of an attacking field .... Once the side batting first goes past 250-260, the side batting 2nd has its work cut out

Everytime Ranatunga has spoken on this WC and India's chances, he's always said home crowd pressure will sink India. Looking at how confused Lanka were during today's chase, I will not be surprised if more than India, Sri lanka fall prey to home crowd pressure.
