zen
Amongst the ones that I have listed to in this world cup, I tend to agree somewhat more w/ Nasser Hussain. W/ some of the others, I find myself shaking my head on far many occassions Link to comment
Little_Master
My fav are Henry Blofeld, Geoffrey Boycott and Tony Greig. I can never forget the "Run a ball + 2, run a ball +2" chant by Geoffrey Boycott...when India was playing Aus (i guess) and sachin was in the middle and we needed 50 of 48 balls. Sachin played a long innings but got out shotly after that and we LOST the game. Post match ceremony ...Geoffrey Boycott said "sacin its just run a ball +2...the +2 would have come easily...u just had to keep going. The guy has infinite love for India and specially sachin tendulkar. Need I talk about the hype Tony Greig creates around Sachin? Miss those guys...Manj, rameez, uncle lal, akram and everyone else are simply not in the same league. I am ok with Ravi Shastri...Sg is good but he talks about records a lot more than cricket..lol Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Everyone has knowledge. But everyone also has a personality. When they clash what we generally get is trash. Link to comment
achilles
1. Sunny Gavaskar 2. Richie Benaud 3. Nasser Hussain 4. Navjot Singh Sidhu 5. Tony Grieg 6. Ian Chappell 7. Shaz 8. Waz 9. Harsha Bhogle 10. Mark Nicholas. Link to comment
SachDan
If I had to pick just one, then it would be Bill Lawry Managed to find this article written by Ted Corbett in 'The Sportstar' good nine years back, the article which made me notice Lawry even closely. http://www.hinduonnet.com/tss/tss2509/25090300.htm Link to comment
NareshK
Best : Sunny Gavaskar, Ian Chappell, Ravi Shastri, David Lloyd, Geoffrey Boycott. Knowledgeable and good to listen to. Tony Greig is good but I get the impression he is biased against India sometimes. Same with Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton. I havent heard enough of Richie Benaud or David Gower. Harsha Bhogle talks too much, like a radio commentator or he is trying too hard to show how good his vocabulary is. Wasim Akram's English sucks. He stammers a lot and struggles to get his point across. Link to comment

zen
Most commentators are knowledgable, what differentiates them is how they read the game :winky: .... Though how entertaining they are is a different question :P Link to comment
Little_Master
So basically whoever praises/hypes Sachin has great knowledge abt the game and is good! if thats true then I would have started with Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri. I was merely talking about commentators that I like. Link to comment
Clarke
Gavaskar is good at discussing batsmen, Holding on quicks. Spinners, not sure, maybe warnie .. Shastri is good at figuring out crucial situations and important junctions in the game. Link to comment

b555
Ian Chappell and Nick Knight (especially when he is dissecting the batting techniques). dont think knight has done that much of a commentary compared to others that we are talking about here Link to comment

Cricketics
I think most of the commentators have good amount of knowledge. It's all about how they present it Live. Some try to be over smart like Ramiz Raza or say Ian Chappel. Link to comment
