fineleg Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Picks Chawla against Netherlands!!!, Like Sidhu says "Is this a charity system?" Just becos MSD says "R Ashwin has more mental strength" he can be dropped and Chawla picked, and Ashwin can straight away play against SA? What Dhoni does is like a stubborn mule. And we can add stupid as well. I give up on this Craptain Cool Here after, I shall refer to MSD as Craptain Cool Irrespective of how Chawla does today, this is a CRAPPY team selection!
Watson87 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 India is still unbeaten in this world cup under Dhoni's captaincy and telling him India will go very far under Dhoni's leadership. Dhoni is right, Ashwin is a better bowler and also a mentally stronger person than Chawla, give Chawla some practice, we might play 3 spinners against the saffers, might be a team strategy.
gaurav92 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 LOL I agree that it wasn't the "coolest" decision :--D If you are replacing Munaf with Nehra, you got to give Ashwin a chance ahead of Chawla. May be he is thinking that we need a leg spinners since we already have an off spinner.
fineleg Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 Dhoni is right' date=' Ashwin is a better bowler and also a mentally stronger person than Chawla, .[/quote'] ^ What Dhoni is right? Mr. Cool is horribly wrong with his selection process (and I say this irrespective of what happens in this match) Sidhu was 100% right May be he is thinking that we need a leg spinners since we already have an off spinner. He is incapable of thinking

jusarrived Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I prefer Chawla over Ashwin if can regain some confidence & thats exactly what msd istrying to do .. Playing 3 offspinners in Harbajan , Ashwin and Pathan isnt ideal .
Sachinism Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 The reason given is pathetic, Chawla has been around for a long time if he is still mentally weak he has no future. So coming onto Ashwin, he'll have no match practice and may have to deliver in a big game, which is totally unfair on him.
vvvslaxman Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Remmeber how he played with same team in T20 in England just to prove a point his team selection was not bad ie.. retaining Jaddu.. He has this "my selection is never wrong" attitude. To prove that he wont mind registering any number of losses.
DomainK Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Might be a good decision not to have Ashwin come in on a totally flat track in a meaningless match and get hit for a few. Let Chowla take this one.
Sid Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Its a deja vu,he did the same thing in last years T20 WC,playing Jadeja back to back .Now he is stuck with Chawla. and the reasoning,Ashwin is not playing becoz he is mentally stronger than Chawla, that is disgraceful from an intl. captain :finger:

They look exactly alike. :(( He's still young and against Holland is just a practice for our players, Chawla needs match practice so let him play, but yeah I would have dropped Bhajji and played Ashwin. Dhoni, incapable of thinking, oh please! He has been India's best captain ever! Come on gangulyfanatics attack me, I am all open.

gaurav92 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I meant a real spinner' date=' a one that takes wicket not Dartbajan:--D[/quote'] So9 Chawla is a wicket taking spinner :hmmm: ?
Andy Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 It looks like ashwin is dhoni's secret weapon, he will unleash ashwin during ipl4!
Lord Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 pathetic.looks like he wants Chawla to have a good game.I hope he gets tonked here too, because if he succeeds today,it might give Dhoni the license to play him for the rest of tournament we play n with PC,it wont be very long
DomainK Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 The only reason to bring Ashwin in would have been to give him some match practice before the big games where he will play. Batting first on a totally flat pitch does not serve the purpose well.
