His innings today reinforces his rubbish batting since 2008. Reasons for making this assertion- 1. Can't shield the tail. 2. Takes singles in slog overs. 3. After batting for say 30 balls, rather than being an aggressor, he would provide more strike to the newcomer, expecting him to go for the shots. 4. Can't slog for his life. 5. When the going gets tough, he gets going.... to the other end. Whats your take? (*Dhoni fans are requested to take this in the right spirit*)

On the other end, Steyn was splendid with his reverse swinging yorkers. There are times you simply cannot score and hence must try to salvage runs, as many as you can. Sure, he could've managed a boundary or too, its probably hard to go after the ball when you're losing a wicket or two every over. We lost 9 wickets against the old ball, NINE! Somehow it is Dhoni who has to smash the bowling apart.

He can take a single on the 4th or 5th balls

Zak is no noob with the bat and the theory might have been to go after the loose delivery and score at least a single off others. It was a collective failure of our batting and singling out MSD is unfair.

Doesn't give one decent answer about his strategies. "We play for the country, not for the crowd" Why did we have 3 seamers ? Why not ashwin today ? Yusuf pathan bowling @ 5 an over is stopped mid way. Bottomline, we don't have a decent bowling attack. Captain admits we are not known for fielding ... Atlas is finally gonna shrug if its always "Ten Du & ten don't" !!

What has happened to him? can't score with the bat, field placements have gone wrong, fumbling in wicket keeping, wrong calls on who to bowl in the death, not planning according to the situation.........you have long breaks between the game, so fatigue can't be the problem...where is his killer instinct...it's more like stab yourself in the chest instinct now He comes around...scratches around and then gets out....Yusuf Pathan won't always score to save your *****....

Tuk-tuk-dot-balls, nudge-push, run hard, once in a while once-into-twos by quick running, and then some tuk-tuk-dot-balls, and an occasional boundary. The old MSD was a powerhouse, now its like a powerful body but a Kaif-like batting.

I agree Dhoni's batting has gone downhill but he more than compensates it with his Keeping and decent captaincy.I have been a big critic of his captaincy but after realising his bowling resources one must admire that he makes the best use of his depleted resources. As far as Dhoni's hitting is concerned we have enough power hitters in the team and when they all fail as a captain he is reduced to playing responsibly.I will understand the criticism if we are 300/2 in the 46th over and Dhoni comes in makes 12(18)

Dhoni's ego is often a misused analysis,Dhoni is not bigger than Sachin,Sehwag and definetely not bigger than BCCI and the selection comitee,he has to defend what he has got understandably.The only thing I don't understand is that he is overly-critical of Sreeshanth but defends other mediocre bowlers. Apart from that aspect I don't blame Dhoni defending Chawla,etc etc.
