Switchblade Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Il support my team but we need to improve in a lot of areas but i still back them :two_thumbs_up:
Misu243 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 One positive I'm taking out from this match is our bowling. They bowled with confidence and a sense of purpose. Also both Munaf and Zaheer generated pace...Batting definitely let us down. They couldve easily sent Yuvraj instead of Yusuf.
b555 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 i guess yes the time has come we have got a loss and that will bring all heads back to where they belong and let the real competition begin and show them our play hoping for the best as someone said coz 'hope is eternal' :isalute: :cheer:
Sooda Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Our bowling was much better than in all the previous matches. Zak was exemplary and Bhajji showed that "class is permanent, form is temporary". Now we just need to get Ashwin in the side and our bowling woes may decrease a bit. Fielding was quite good and there was only that one dropped catch by Gambhir. A special mention to Goddy :adore: fielders like Nehra and Munaf can learn a thing or two from this man. Dhoni also was extremely good behind the stumps. In batting we need a good, reliable finisher and there are really only two options for that - Yuvraj or Raina, Yuvraj is slowly coming back into form so we now only need Raina in the team and for that we need to drop Yusuf IMO. Indeed. Ashwin in for Nehra might well be the way forward. It will mean countless offies in the team. Gambhs was a bit unlucky there with the slip, would ahev changed the match. Raina for Yousuf might be a good change too, just means we have another part time option who is not entirely reliable. YP is not bad with the ball. Mind you thanks to Yuvraj he only bowled 4 overs today. If that is about all we need from Raina he might do an ok Job. And this is without Nehra and Bhajj finishing their spells... Yeh actually glad we almost defended the total. Batting strategy still sucks in the middle overs. Still' date=' this was a chance to finish off RSA for good. Mentally, they would have been really shot had they missed out again.[/quote'] True, I expected us to lose a bit easily...SA they would have been shot to bits if theyd lost this one, would have been nice. Its not so much in the middle overs that it sucks I dont think, more at the death. Tendulkar and GG did a fine job of accumulating for most of the middle overs. And after all we were like 270-1 in 40 overs...its the last 10 ovs both today and vs England. Same holds true for when we bowl also. Majorly suck at death batting and bowling. We were faced with good bowling today, but it just needed someone sensible to take it to the end. Sadly our pacemen cant bowl a decent yorker, against the Petersons of this world would be ideal. Thats what Bresnan did to us that day. I think Kohli needs to come in when he is due, yeah he will take time to settle, but he will acclerate once he does. Instead of having to go for it from ball no 1. And that way we know one end is ticking along ok.
jhakati Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Good to Get the Customary Loss out of the Way- Now Win all the KO Games and Lift the Cup if any of you thought we will win the WC without losing a single game that's unrealistic this was a great game and was close but the loss will help the side focus on the small details, especially the bowling unit :two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up:
jhakati Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 i agree wonderful fielding display and great spirit shown on the field loved kohlis foul language when he caught that catch in the deep!
Misu243 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Final will be India vs SA ..Wankhede stadium will erupt as Sachin brings up one last WC century.
pakexpress Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Dehli abhi door hai maray dost... QF mai hi bahir ho jaoo ge
Moncy Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I like that some of you guys are so optimistic :) But in reality, India is very unlikely to win the WC, not with their rubbish bowling attack (1 quality bowler (ZAK) is not enough/dhoni's decision making skills/their fragile middle order. Right now, SA and Aussies are the actual favourites to win the WC.
julianlev Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Final will be India vs SA ..Wankhede stadium will erupt as Sachin brings up one last WC century. pretty sure Sachin will reach his next hundred before then
mastana Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Dehli abhi door hai maray dost... QF mai hi bahir ho jaoo ge abey dhakkan final Mumbai mein hai. Aur tumhari Pakistani team toh wahan pahuchne ke sapne bhi mat le. :hehe: Bas boats se mat aana.
Andy Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 we never used to collapse like this in odis' date='the pressure of scoring big because of the perception that our bowlers cant defend even 350 is the reason the batsmen are going for extravagant and uncharacteristic shots in the end.[/quote'] Bang on, exactly my Thought. We must have aimed 360-370, thats why Yusuf was brought on so early, where Kohli should have been in. Thats the problem when you aim too high. Our team management is not trying pr being ignorant of the Loopholes that we have in our bowling and Fielding and want us to cover up our weakness by going for Astronomical Scores.
Andy Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Anyways with India till death. We can win the WC , But we need to improve a Lot. Ignorant and Arrogant attitude that MSD has would take us no where. A Quote I read somewhere :- Dhoni's post match interviews are so similar to Roy Hodgson's ones. "Its everybody else's fault, I'm innocent" ---- SORE LOSER!!
fineleg Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 In essence learning from your mistake is crucial. The above is critical - only way we can at least make it to semis is if we learn from the various screwups that have happened thus far. Good Luck to Team India - hope they learn and progress in this WC.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Everything happens for the better Folks, we shouldn't have lost today's game but it may be a good thing in the longer run for the following reasons... 1. Team Management will have a clear idea now that we can't go with 3 pacers on these pitches... 2 specialist spinners is the way to go. Ashwin will surely come into the side in place of Nehra or Munaf which is a huge plus for us. 2. If we beat West Indies we should in all probability be no. 2 in our group and should face Kiwis in quarters if all the other results go as per form (SL beats NZ, Aus beats Pak and SA beats B'desh). I would prefer to face NZ in quarters than the other 3 teams. 3. This game will act as a reality check for our batsmen and team in general. I had a feeling that Indian team was beginning to believe in the hype and this loss comes at the right time. Also, we had to have a batting collapse some time in the tourney and it's better we had it now. Plus I still subscribe to the theory that subcontinental teams can never be as consistent like Aussies or SA and win every game in the tourney. After our 2 wins in the warm-ups and 4 match unbeaten run, I am glad we dropped a game now rather than in the knock-outs. 4. Now we will have a better plan for the batting power-plays. It has happened to us twice - against Eng and SA. Eng collapse was overshadowed since we didn't lose the game but now the team management and batsmen will be forced to think and come up with a plan regarding how to bat in batting power-play. 5. We still haven't peaked and lot of scope of improvement. If we can run teams like Eng and SA close when we are way off our peak performance, we should do well when everything falls in place. 6. Today's win will ensure we don't experiment too much with our batting lineup. Pathan shouldn't have been sent in the power-play and asked to play the shots right from the start. We have seen that Pathan's best performances have come when he had time to get his eye in or if he faced a spinner. Kohli and Yuvraj should have come in at 4 and 5 with Pathan saved for the few overs that spinners had to bowl. Hopefully going forward team will keep this in mind. 7. Zaheer is finding his groove and has improved every game so far which is a very good sign. Most important thing, we are nowhere at our best - our batting has collapsed in all the games, our bowling has been pretty ordinary and fielding has been abysmal and still we have lost only one game so far and that too by a whisker to SA. And in fact if Harbhajan had gotten the last over we may still have prevailed! It would have been more upsetting if we had a great day and still lost.
jhakati Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Final will be India vs SA ..Wankhede stadium will erupt as Sachin brings up one last WC century. yea a india SA final is very possible
