On the bright side... We fielded much better today. Clearly up for it in the field, when frankly, i expected them to be a bit deflated after the collapse. None more so than Tendulkar, setting a fine example. Also bowling whilst dissapointing in the end, was for most part, not bad. Bhajj got 3, part timers were good. Not sure about Nehra in for Piyush yet though.

Yeh actually glad we almost defended the total. Batting strategy still sucks in the middle overs. Still, this was a chance to finish off RSA for good. Mentally, they would have been really shot had they missed out again.

Our bowling was much better than in all the previous matches. Zak was exemplary and Bhajji showed that "class is permanent, form is temporary". Now we just need to get Ashwin in the side and our bowling woes may decrease a bit. Fielding was quite good and there was only that one dropped catch by Gambhir. A special mention to Goddy :adore: fielders like Nehra and Munaf can learn a thing or two from this man. Dhoni also was extremely good behind the stumps. In batting we need a good, reliable finisher and there are really only two options for that - Yuvraj or Raina, Yuvraj is slowly coming back into form so we now only need Raina in the team and for that we need to drop Yusuf IMO.

A few more runs and a few more early wkts would have helped :P Glad that we got this game out of the way. Had a feeling before the game that SA would snatch this

Although we have lost this match, it provided a lot of positives for the team - good fielding and good bowling, Bhajji showing his class, Gambhir batting well etc. Come on Indiaaaaa :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: we are winning this WC.

I am slightly dissapointed that we may miss out playing pakistan in the QFs.we may now face SL or NZ.

29 runs in 9 overs.. pretty hard to find a positive there. TO be honest.. we all know our strengths and weaknesses like our back of the hand. But in a big tournament there is hardly any room for slip ups. India lost 5 wickets in 2 overs and messed up a chance of posting a big total against England. What should they have done? They should have expected such a scenario today and have focused on playing out 50 overs instead of going for glory shots. India didn't play out 50 overs against England and South Africa. Bowling and fielding is not exactly our strength. Our captain is also defensive. So we always have to score 30 to 40 more extra runs every time. Today India was in commanding position to bat SA completely out of the game. But we messed up big time. In essence learning from your mistake is crucial. They didn't learn from England's game. So there is nothing positive we can take home.

I AM POSITIVE. I still believe we can and will win the cup the resources available. But that does not mean as soon as we sucked in a match, I close my eyes and say all is well. I do not like to dwell on negatives for long, but do like to look at the mistakes without shying away from it to see what can be rectified.

we never used to collapse like this in odis,the pressure of scoring big because of the perception that our bowlers cant defend even 350 is the reason the batsmen are going for extravagant and uncharacteristic shots in the end.

I dont think this loss is going to deal a blow to our QF chances since realistcally we've already qualified (not mathematically so). Rather, it'll serve as a good reminder about what are the aspect that this team need to work on. Like getting a definite strategy about how to bat in the Batting PP over (today it looked like as if batting PP= slog) and choosing a bowler who can bowl in the death overs other than Zak. It's far better that this sort of batting collapse happened in a group match rather than a KO match! Only thing that stings is that I BADLY wanted India to win against SA so that the arrogant smith gets a slap on his face. Especially after his smartass twits. *sigh*

Fake optimism will do nothing but cover up our glaring weaknesses. Yes be positive/attacking whatever but do it with passion a la SRT. The way he was moving today in the field clearly shames the younger ones like Munaf, GG and Nehra. Less said about Nehra the better...this guy just gives up while fielding...he knows it...but does not even TRY to make an effort to hurry the batsmen while they take a run. I can only be positive if the captain and the rest of the team besides Sachin show some killer instinct. We had SA on the mat with our foot on their neck...wtf happened then is not excusable at all. Still, here is wishing good luck for the rest of the WC.

Well our luck will turn...Even SA should not be happy. Reason, they were cruising after batting powerplay. ABV goes for glory, gets out, Duminy does the same. then Van Wyk already dropped, tries to play another stupid shot. Biggest of them Botha, after scoring 4 and 6, he goes for glory. They could have won this in 49 overs. Its good that we are having some close games initial part of the world cup. Fielding was great (apart from missed runout by Raina and missed catch by Gambhir)... We just have to play better in death overs. After lose of Gambhir, Pathan and Tendulkar in pwoer play, Yuvi shouldn't have gone for that shot. they needed to play sensible cricket and 320 was easy peesy with singles. Anyways all in all, we did not lose badly, so NRR is still good. We head to chennai and by looks of things, it will be spinning track and Ashwin will definately debut there. Good to see bhajji amongst wickets.

not a single game won convincingly so far...a loss like this was always on the cards. We need to play to our strengths not present our weak links to the opposition...sorry no positives from today's game.One more mistake like this and WC2011 will be history...
