Looking at the two close matches against SA and ENgland where our 49th over and 50th over were bowled by Zak, Nehra, Chawla and Munaf. Only Zak stood out. From here on Dhoni should reserve atleast 3 overs for Zak at the death like 46,48,50 even if it means Zak not bowling enough upfront. Probably 3 power play overs. That would leave him to bowl 4 overs upfront. They have to plan the resources we have.

Very much. But we lose most of the time in the death overs so we have to find a way to limit the damage in the middle over through other bowlers. Also Zak is more lethal with older ball. India has to get the most out of spinners in the middle overs.

Problem is Zaheer is our only wicket taking and "go to" bowler for Dhoni. He has to bowl at the start of an innings, during power-plays and also when opposition is running away with the game to try and take wkts. He will never have more than 1 or 2 overs left at the death. If we had one more decent fast bowler maybe we could have saved a few more overs for Zaheer at the death but that's not gonna happen :(( Hopefully with Ashwin in, he should be able to provide control during the middle overs and dependency on Zaheer may reduce a bit.

I think we can open the bowling with zak and ashwin..Give only 4 overs to zak in first spell and then second pacer whp must be munna can complete the bowling power play with 2-3 overs to bhajji in bowling pp then yuvraj from one end after 15 over pp

I don't want us to be in a situation where Windies requires 70 runs in 6 overs with Zak having just 1 over to bowl. :(( . I know it is hard to precisely plan your bowling resource. It depends on the match.But little bit of thought going in there can help us a long way.

Yes and No. Think-tank usually definitely have some plans going in. But it changes depending on the match.

Munaf should bowl out during the middle overs should not be given the ball during the slog overs he is predictable but the problem is that whom are you going to bowl in PP HARBHAJAN and after that who will be the other one ?

If Ashwin plays, he would be handy at bowling at the death or in power-plays. He has done so previously with plenty of success and seems to relish bowling in these situations.

Harbhajan has to step up. No other choice. We don't have bowlers with variations. Yorker is a non-entity for our bowlers. They might even consider Sreesanth. He has an excellent slower one. Just that he overdoes a bit.

Sreesanth is rubbish. Dont know which sreeshanth turns up on a given day. Dont trust his mythical wicket taking abilities

@ VVS i for one feel that Sree should be given a chance ahead of Nehra i know Sree goes for plenty when he loses it but unfair on him just coz ur not in good books of ur captain if by miracle we reach semis at Mohali he should be played

When you are bowling to tail best option is slower ball. 90% of the time they won't connect properly . Worst ball to bowl a tail is length ball. 90% of the time they will connect. Do we have bowlers who can bowl good slower one? If Sree is played he should not bowl in the first 10 overs at all. Period.

I concur. At least Sree looks like picking wkts. However I will have just one of Sree/Munaf/Nehra in the team along with Ashwin. Hope Sree gets the game against WI.

As I mentioned in another topic the 2 jokers/bozos Nehra and Munna bring NOTHING to the table..Can't bowl, can't field and can't bat..Would rather have Santh pairing with Zak. He can't be worse that those 2 jokers..

I would like to try Sreesanth. I still remember his bowling in T20 Semifinal against Aussies. we should start with Zak and Ashwin. Zak bowls 3 overs, replaced by SS. Ashwin bowls 4 to 5 overs replace by Yusuf Pathan.
