However, credit to Pakistan they did bowl very well. Hopefully Aus can take some valuable lessons from this match.

But you gotta score 240 first :haha: As for Aussies learning lessons they can't do much in case they play on a turner. They played 2 warm-ups on turners and lost them both, they would have struggled in their game against SL as well as Ponting admitted and now this. I hope we prepare a rank turner in Ahmedabad for the Q/F as can't see Aussies do much on such a pitch. They neither have bowlers or batsmen to compete on turning tracks.

In most cases, scoring over 200 runs is not that hard. All you have to do is face 50 overs and you will get 220 minimum. Any score under 220 is unnacceptable, but still defendable against Pakistan. You see, they almost stuffed up at one stage last night.. 6 down.. No disrespect to Pakistan they clearly deserved to win.. But I just can't see them winning this tournament.. I could see a team getting a score of 250+ against them at least once & they wont be able to chase it down. For what it's worth, I can see Australia have many issues of their own and I also would be surprised if we were to win the tournament. Ponting & White both need to lift their games drastically if Australia are to have any chance. A guy like Ferguson hasn't even been given a chance yet & he's in the squad, it's just a shame to me.. In the bowling department, we have no spin bowlers.. Krezja is rubbish.. We all know how pivotal spin bowling is in this torunament, so if Aus were to win it with no real spinners, it'd be quite amazing I reckon..

I dont think you have to be perfect in everything to win the World Cup. In that sense, this is the most open World Cup we had so far because all teams have inherent weaknesses. Australia is no longer the consistent and formidable side they have been for so many years but they can still win the tournament. It all boils down to how they perform on that given day and some luck.
Rajiv Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 ...frankly anything after Qtrs and Semis is whoever plays the best on their day. Otherwise, the qualifiers didn't actually do much except the shuffling India gets to play at home regardless, I kinda didn't like this rule
