yoda Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 When in doubt Bat first. When in no doubt, bat first. If still in doubt, stfu and bat first!
vvvslaxman Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 i am not talking about previous Wc's here.I am basing this solely on Indias performance in this WC.What i've seen so far of india I am pretty confident that we will be able to chase down any total .YES! even something 320+ .Right now the dilemma we are facing is that we don't know how many runs would be enough for our lolly-pop bowling bowling to defend. If we bowl first we'll have the advantage of having a target in mind. Also with the Due factor any team bowling second will have problems' date=' our bowling maybe more than Australa's .Tbh i think if AUS wins the toss they will probably bat first which would be a blessing in disguise for us.[/quote'] didn't we struggle against Holland and Ireland on a slowish surface?
cybervickey Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 didn't we struggle against Holland and Ireland on a slowish surface? didn't we win against them too. Most teams take minnows lightly. When playing in the KO's we will go full throttle. edit: didnt bangla came dangerously close to our total.Even the game with WI how many times can you rely only on ZK to perform like he did.In the Qf's most teams will have a plan against him. They can easily block him or take less chances against him and hit other bowlers for runs.
Watson87 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Keep dreaming brah. After quarterfinal I will come back here and type Thread :fail: May the best team win. :D But in case we win, badhai ho paaji badhai :isalute:

The difference is Aussies are not as good chasers. They flunk even against ordinary attacks. Yes even against our bowling. But when they field first they know how to defend. What if they end up scoring 350 runs? You clearly have no faith in our bowling. How do you plan to chase 350 against Lee, Tait, Johnson/

How do you plan to chase 350 against Lee' date= Tait, Johnson/ thats not completely true.I think that zahir is a damn good bowler, bajji is okish and ashwin is interesting .First of all i dont think that hey will make 350.Remember this is not the Australia of Mcgrath etc. This batting is not ant it used to be either. On indian pitches the only bowler that can give us trouble is probably Lee.Fortunately we've seen a lot of lee due to IPL and a lot of games VS AUssies. The other bowlers are are just so so.So to answer your question , YES! we can chase down 350 against Aussies :D

There is no way we are going to chase that target in a world cup quarter finals. Heck we will be struggling to chase 270 odd.
zen Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 On true pitches like Australia it doesn't matter. But the pitch will get slower in the evening. inspite of dew factor stroke making will not be easy against slow bowlers. W/ dew the ball doesn't reverse and it is easy to play through the line. SPinners find it difficult to grip too Ideally, we should bat first. But only field first if dew is suppose to be a huge factor

But only field first if dew is suppose to be a huge factor I bet my bottom dollar no team will decide the toss decision on dew factor. Dhoni himself said that once. What if the dew factor is not significant in the evening? We will be struggling to chase even a moderate total. Pressure of chasing means add another 30 runs.

Heck we will be struggling to chase 270 odd. dude , if they make 350 the the pitch would have to be absolutely flat + the due factor.Batting hamaree pass bhi hai, this is not the old India which would fold if Sachin got out early. We'll knock their teeth in on a batting pitch.
King Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Both the teams are looking vulnerable, India looks vulnerable with their bowling and fielding. Aussies are vulnerable with their batting. Two sides that are equally capable of snatching a loss from victory and vice versa. Should be a good game to watch.

The Outsider Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Australia are just not in the same class as India. Yeah, it's a one off knock out match so anyone can win but I would back India to win chasing or defending.

If I were India I would be worried about the Lee-Johnson combo wicket taking abilities with lethal pace. Let us hope for the best.
cybervickey Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 I am going to bump this thread if India chases and folds. :winky: sure and i'l bump it up when we win chasing against Australlia.remember this thread is meant to be about the AUS india QF game only.I made this thread keeping in mind our strengths and weaknesses against the Aussies .I'll make another one for the semi's :)

pensionplan Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Lol really...on a spinning pitch' date=' India is a better bowling side :dontknow:[/quote']Hope so. If one were look at Motera history and look at the leading bowlers in LOI's pace bowlers have an edge over the spinners be it Wickets, Economy, Average, S/R. So let us hope for a reversal of sorts if you will. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/records/bowling/most_wickets_career.html?class=2;id=840;type=ground
panesarv Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Its not gonna be that easy. Brett Lee won't let it be that easy. I say its going down to the wire.
