Strategy for the Semi Final against Pakistan!

Given the Conditions in Mohali as most usually the Pitch supports the seamers, with very little help for the spinners. So should we play 2 spinners? And On a Mohali Pitch, we must not have Munaf Dadaji, he should be replaced either by Nehra Or Shreeshant. Not sure about the conditions we'll get in Mohali, Dont think it would be a turner.

No strategy needed. Just win the toss, go out & play normal cricket. Pakistan so far has beat teams by subjecting them to batting collapses. As long as we bat fifty overs with our top 5 batting out the bulk of them, we will post big enough a total to challenge anyone, more so Pakistan. If Ajmal plays, we need to be wary of his doosras. He is a genuine threat to our middle order. I dont think Afridi or Hafeez can run through our batting lineup like they have done with other opponents.

True that. But I am still not sure as to whether we should play 3 seamers or just two spinners.

its hard to imagine pakis winning this game. or even keeping it close, for that matter. if india bat first, they are gonna rack up 300+ without breaking a sweat. sehwag, dhoni, yuvraj, tendulkar, gambhir have been gang banging their crappy bowlers for years. their gutter class batting lineup will fall short of whatever total they get. if they bat first, their gutter class batting lineup is good enuff to get the runs on the board. they havent got someone to do a ponting. india could easily restrict them to a low 200 score and chase it down without breaking a sweat. the onyl thing they have going for them is freedom from expectation. nobody gave this crappy team a chance of getting this far. their fans are dreaming, and still cant believe they made it this far. getting any further is just a bonus. india on the other hand, were expected to get this far and wont be satisfied with anything less than a world cup win.

Folks, initially I wanted to stick with the team that beat Aussies barring one change - Sreesanth/Nehra in place of Nehra but am leaning towards getting Pathan in place of Raina as well. Granted Raina did a great job but I was leaning towards "horses for courses" policy in this case... Raina against Aussies made sense as Aussie attack was based on pacers and Pathan is more at home taking on spinners or trundlers rather than genuinely quick bowlers such as Lee, Tait or Johnson. Yes, Pathan was successful against SA in SA but you will see that his 2 successful innings were played when he started against spinners (Botha & Duminy) and once he had scored runs against spinners & well set he was able to take on SA pacers. Even against Ireland where Pathan scored his highest score in the tourney (30*) he came in against spin and promptly hammered the spinners around. Pak attack is based on spin as other than Gul and one of Riaz/Akhtar the rest of the attack consists of spinners/medium pacers in Afridi, Hafeez, Rahman, Ajmal, Razzaq. Pathan would feel comfortable from ball one against these bowlers and on a good batting track in Mohali would pose a great challenge for the Pak bowling attack. Plus Pathan is a better bowler than Raina and can get a few overs in. Based on these factors I would go for Pathan against Pak and if we make it to the final go with Pathan against SL or SA, and in case of Eng or NZ go with Raina. What do you guys think?

I agree with the first part. The batting can and should destroy them but I don't agree with the second bit. Pakistan have chased down big scores vs India even with their useless batsmen. Minnow bashers like Younis fail against SA/Aus but score against India's dire bowling. Dropmal has also made runs though it is mostly in tests. Then you have Misfart Ul Haq. I can see Razzaq also scoring runs at 8. Salman **** and Mr Mirza are not in the team. Two useless players but again two guys who score against India.

Mohali for one is more seamer friendly, and even if they choose to bombard us with spin, we are the best team combat it :winky:

If india is supposed to win that easily why are you even bothering to look forward to the match and discuss it... some serious troll you are with real inferiority complex or sth... must suck to be you when india loses and the bubble you live in bursts open.. this considering the fact that india has lost more to pakistan in both odi's and tests

Just beat the crap out of them.. I don't think we need to spend too much time planning strategy for Pakistan. :cantstop:
Same. I think Pakiz aren't that strong mentally, so I do not give them much chance. The pressure of the occasion will get to them.
