Even our b-grade team has defeated them and so if we keep that attitude in a pressure game like the final and play sensibly and free of pressure then we should win .. to be fair enough none of the Ms have done well against us till now especially on Indian pitches .. their batsmen are fair enough but Dilshan had his day during last match and he normally has a day off after every good knock :giggle: .. Lady Jaya is due and might be a small problem though SL has been our punching bag and b!tch for last two years and we have defeated them numerous times especially in India .. we always have a mental edge over them and we should win easily if we play proper cricket .. just dont let Dilshan' date=' Sanga and Jaya to score too much and we should be fine[/quote'] you are positive ghor apshagun Now I am getting worried....

Buy fire crackers, Indian Flags, Paint your face and be ready at 11pm to celebrate something we all Indians will witness for the first time. Winning the 2011 World Cup in our home soil. Anybody knows where the whole crowd is going to gather to watch on big screen. I want Mumbai to celebrate just like how Madrid and Barcelona did when they won FIFA world cup BTW, last night.. it was amazing on streets.. EVERYBODY WAS INDIAN!!!

India will be on top if we can get through their top order. Feel a little sad for the Indian team to be playing the final so soon after a mentally exhausting Semi Final against Pakistan. We had so much gap between useless league matches and barely a couple of days after the SF. Stupid planning, ICC.:whack:

Their bowling is better and our batsmen not comfortable with their attack. On the other hand their batsmen love our bowling attack. Would be awesome if we pull it off though :two_thumbs_up:

With the amount of expectation and pressure they had in past week, I wouldn't be surprised, if final turns out to be anti-climax. In any case, they deliver it one last time for Sachin and Gary. But lions will also be motivated as this will be Murali's last game. My head says Lions will win it as they have less pressure than Indians.

Add to that the fact that both teams want to lift the cup for their respective veterans- Sachin and Murali.. and you can well imagine the pressure cooker situation that's in store for both our countries

Their bowling is their main strength and have wicket takers. IMO they will leave out Mendis and bring in Perera who always seems to do well against India. But Malinga is the most dangerous player in their ranks. Although I have full faith in my team, that they will come out on top and repeat 1983. CHAK DE INDIA:two_thumbs_up:

Yes, India have beaten Sri Lanka in recent times convincingly, but also India have a forgettable record in tournament finals. The only tournament final win they have against Sri Lanka is the recent Asia Cup but barring that India tend to crumble under pressure in finals. Having said that, India still has the best batting lineup hands down so it will require a major choke from them. So the equation is India better batting, weaker bowling. Sri Lanka relatively weaker batting but can compensate by bowling. News is Matthews may not play which could be a big blow for SL. Also, if they bring in someone like Vaas he could be a wildcard; he's been performing well in domestic and club T20 in England. Toss will be crucial; whoever wins will bat. If SL win the toss they have a serioious chance of winning the match too. If they post something close to 300, tehn they can bowl tight and let pressure get to India. If India bat SL will have to bowl really well to restrict them under, say, 270. If India score more than that my best is they will win.

Sachin=GOD Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Vaas, Randiv called up as injury cover for final Injury concerns over Muttiah Muralitharan and Angelo Mathews have forced the Sri Lankan team to call up Chaminda Vaas and Suraj Randiv as standbys ahead of the World Cup final against India on April 2. Vaas and Randiv will reach Mumbai on Thursday evening, and will be available for an emergency swap into the side if necessary, pending approval from the ICC. Trevor Bayliss, the team's coach, confirmed the development. "They [Mathews and Muralitharan] picked up a couple of niggles in the last match," Bayliss said. "So to be on the safe side a couple of guys are flying in tonight. We will be giving those two guys [Mathews and Muralitharan] as long as possible to prove their fitness." Muralitharan has struggled with niggles through the course of the tournament, including a hamstring injury, a side strain, a troublesome knee and a groin issue. There was speculation that he would be rested for the semi-final against New Zealand in a bid to allow him time to be fully fit for the final. Muralitharan, however, played in the semi-final in Colombo, despite not being in the best physical condition. The final, if he plays in it, will be Muralitharan's last international game. Bayliss was confident about Muralitharan's availability for the game. "I think his chances are good," Bayliss said. "He bowled his 10 overs in the semi-final and came through that okay. He is obviously a bit stiff and sore. He has the character and the will to win the World Cup and I will not be surprised if he plays." Mathews left the field during the semi-final with a minor quadriceps muscle injury when Sri Lanka were fielding, and was visibly hampered for movement when he later came out to bat with a runner. Mathews has played a crucial role in Sri Lanka's campaign, both as a back-up seamer and in the middle order, and his versatility will be tough to substitute. Left-arm seamer Vaas, 37, last played an last international game in July 2009, and hasn't featured in an ODI since August 2008. He was contemplating retirement following his omission from the original World Cup squad. He did it to us in his last test, he did it in last ODI in Sri Lanka... Will he do it again? :nervous: Hell No, We need to play with two spinners and 2 seamers. I know we got lucky in Mohali but dont want to repeat the same mistake again. We can chose one of the Nehra or Munaf for the final but Ashwin is a must.
