ZodiaC Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 To his credit, Nehra bowled well today. But I would still like to see Ashwin back in the finals. Especially if lankans get to bat first, it's highly likely that Nehra's gonna go for some runs. What say you guys?
vvvslaxman Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I think it will depend on conditions. Most likely it is going to be a flat pitch. Nehra will not be omitted after this brilliant death over performance.
jpkonline Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 munaf will sit out ashwin will play he is dangerous against left handers srilanka have three left handers
cowboysfan Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 MY wish(not gonna to happen though) is prepare a hard track with some grass and pick 3 seamers again.I think they will go with Ashwin this time.
ZodiaC Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 I think it will depend on conditions. Most likely it is going to be a flat pitch. Nehra will not be omitted after this brilliant death over performance. If it's a flat pitch, Ashwin is a must. I don't think Nehra's gonna get away like this against Dilshan, Sanga, lady jaya etc. on a flat track.
hari504504 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 the lankans can pbly play the carrom ball when they are half asleep..they practice in the nets against Murali and Mendis !!... Ashwin will have to sit out..go with the same 3 pronged pace attack !
glogirl Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 ashwin will play finals..he can control the match.
Lord Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 u wouldnt ask if u saw SL v NZ game at Mumbai.its got swing n bounce n nohing for spinners n huge dew factor.Nehra showed his experience. He must play against these FTBs.no point playing 2 spinners there
Ranvir Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Bat or field first against Sri Lanka? If India win the toss do you think India should bat or field first against Sri Lanka in the final? I definitely think they should bat first. I in 1996 SF we lost batting second, in 1999 we pummelled them batting first, same in 2003 we won batting first, 2007 we lost batting second.
Sid Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Pressure game ,bat first and bat SL out of the match. P.S : I repeated the same line 3 games running :woot:
Lord Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 ofcourse bat first n target 270-280.learn from today.dont aim too high.today they were aiming 310 n only Raina cameo got us to 260.
Sachin=GOD Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Pre match discussion for The Final So its India-Sri Lanka in The Final :ohyeah: India will have to be vary of Sri Lanka's openers who are in outstanding form. Also, it would be Murali's last match and he's looking in fine form and would like to retire on a high, so he would certainly be a danger. Sri Lanka's middle order is not batting well so we should target them. As for the Indian team, the selection of the final 11 will depend on the pitch, although I would like to see the same team which played the semis. Your views??
Karan114 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Malinga is also a major threat with his pinpoint yorkers. But yes, the main thing is to find a way past their top four. They are really vulnerable after that, as seen against NZ to an extent. But it is easier said than done...though Zak has had some success against Sanga (like most left handers) But they are a good team and will be keen to send Murali off on a high...we have to be very well prepared for this match. If we play our best game I am confident we can beat them on our home soil (of course we've beaten them in Lanka too).
Tigerbait Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 No time to celebrate, on to Sri Lanka Negatives - we're coming off a big win and there is the hangover factor. The final is almost an anticlimax after the hyped Pak game. Mental readiness is going to be key for this game Positives - our bowling has finally found life and the batting, while decent, hasn't peaked yet. Who knows, this could be that elusive 'perfect' game that the India we know puts together every now and then. The team is also playing well as a unit and relying less on individual performances. See the bowling figures today - almost perfect distribution of wealth. I have a feeling the pieces will all come together and we'll crush the Lankans this weekend. Haven't felt this good in a long time. :two_thumbs_up:
Cricket Tragic Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 They will travel tomorrow and just the one day of practice. It would have been better to have the final on Sunday but that's how it is.
Polaroid Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I think srilanka will provide a tougher match than pakistan. Just because their batting side is strong too.
Switchblade Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Agree O.P Sachin said that we are ready for the game have no time for practise
WC2011INDIA Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Yes, enough celebrations already. Team India needs to get a good night sleep and then leave for Mumbai tomorrow. Ideally, India should practice for couple of hours tomorrow evening and then good solid practice session on Friday and hope for the best on Saturday.
Cricket Tragic Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Any news on Gambhir's injury? He likes the SL attack.
