Question abt Mumbai crowd

Abuse the Lankans? Nope, not in my stand. Their Anthem was respected. The only one who was thoroughly abused was Dilshan. That is because when he dismissed Kohli he swore at him. They showed that c&b on the big screen. That got everyone riled up. As for the celebrations, I didn't see anything untoward happen. Either in or out of the stadium. In fact even strangers were being nice that day. And everyone was celebrating. Rich and poor both. Never saw us more united.

Mariyam, I was not there at the match. But as a mumbaikar, Mumbai crowds in my experience in past have been utterly embarassing showing no respect at times even to their own players.

If anything, Chennai needs to man the F up. I remember an IPL match vs DC, where they were cheering every four hit by Gilchrist n co. FFS! I was p!ssed off to say the least :mad: Thankfully, from then on, they started supporting the home team n I don't know the reason behind the sudden change. Maybe, because the DC game was the first home game for us n the samosa eating rich choozas got carried away in the excitement. :hehe:

And opposition players got to expect some smack talk, especially the ones fielding near the boundary - it happens everywhere and why call out India for the same? More so if a p**k like Dilshan is the target :--D

But you gotta at least back your own team and not make the opposing team comfortable at our "home ground"

What do you expect ? It was a hyped up, highly charged World Cup final and the chase was intense. Ideally you want a well behaved crowd which respects the opposition but there will always be individuals who let their emotions out and think abusing players from the opposition will help the home team. Its part and parcel of what you get in a home crowd situation and there is no way you can control them and tell them what they can or cannot do. It happens almost always in Australia and sub continent players always get their dose whenever they play there when they are fielding near the boundary line. But you dont hear the players complain because they get used to it and its just a part of playing the game. Also, dont paint the whole crowd/city with the same brush because of the behavior of a few individuals.

Listen, its quite clear you lot suffer from a massive inferiority complex and love kissing up to the likes of England, Australia and South Africa as if they do nothing wrong .. but here, have a read of this:

I caught the Adelaide Oval ODI/Test from the 07/08 tour and I can tell you, the amount of venom and abuse the younger generation copped from the public because of the Harbhajan / Symonds spat was just unbelievable. You got drunk red necks in the crowds spewing racist venom like "blant c_unts", "black curry muchers" etc left, right and center. The cops sitting in the boundary edge were absolutely powerless to help -- sure, they kicked out one or two out from the ground --- but when you get sections of the crowd gesticulating and singing "YOU ARE A WAN_KER", all they could was just wait for it to pass. Having said that, I make it a point to watch at least one LIVE MATCH every year and by large, its a very enjoyable experience. Don't let a few dickheads spoil the fun.
