I know there r some idiots in the crowd everywhere ... but they r even pissed off with the celebrations on the road .. Did anyone of u encountered any rudely crowd at the time of celebration? inside stadium or outside stadium or anywhere else in our country? Why ppl keep on suggesting tht there r more important things in life.. we r losing values.. there r so many poors and we celebrate like this .. and chest beating etc etc is not good .. WTF man .. u don't win the WC everyday ..
Holysmoke Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 People were booing malinga (coz he got sachin out), and they were booing dilshan(coz he went all maabhen on kohli). I didnt see anyone abusing them and going all maa behen, but yammy says she did. But hey, Dilshan started it :hehe: On the streets is was mayhem. People were dancing with joy. I didnt see anyone abuse lankans after the game. It was extreme happiness dude, why would someone start mouthing off? These ppl are probably a bunch of old farts who think if you win the world cup you should smile, have a cup of tea and go to sleep.
Asoka Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Only Chepauk is a decent crowd in India. Rest are abusive. Win with Grace, Lose with Humility- didn't their mothers teach them that. Abusing the mehmaan is bad, really shameful.
Mariyam Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Abuse the Lankans? Nope, not in my stand. Their Anthem was respected. The only one who was thoroughly abused was Dilshan. That is because when he dismissed Kohli he swore at him. They showed that c&b on the big screen. That got everyone riled up. As for the celebrations, I didn't see anything untoward happen. Either in or out of the stadium. In fact even strangers were being nice that day. And everyone was celebrating. Rich and poor both. Never saw us more united.

Mariyam Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Holy is spot on!! What Dilshan did was really pathetic. The crowd was emotional and gave him a taste of his own medicine. I don't condone it, but I can understand what they did. I don't know what people are complaining about. Do we have to find faults in everything? What do you want us to do after a WC win? Just say "yaay" eat a vada pav and go home? @ OP : all this talk of social inequality and all is worth discussing. But then do so without mentioning the victory. The inequality would exist even if we lost the final. Your point here is very muddled up. There are many poor, and its sad to celebrate like this, but its not sad to host an event like this?? Confusing dichotomy.

vvvslaxman Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 India wins, MUmbai loses? http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/video_audio/509383.html?genre=43 Seems like two guys are just tearing apart Mumbai crowd reaction towards Srilankan players with obsenities. Andy Zaltzman is also disappointed... at the end

I respectfully disagree, you need to put the opposition at a disadvantage,if the opposition gets rattled because some fans boo then its job well done by the local fans.Dont underestimate the power of the 12th man and clearly worked because the lankans gave up near the end.
Rajiv Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Its botched up frustrations I guess, some smile and some shout
