Ireland shut out of World Cup 2015

What's the big deal with having the qualifying tourney for 2015 as well for the bottom 2 slots? Isn't 4 years enough time to plan and play a damn tournament?

I like the fact that minnows have been cut, but would have preferred having a qualifier for the last 2 slots amongst teams ranked 9-10 and 2 associates. It puts at risk the presence of BD in the next cup and the idea was probably discarded.

Not only BD...but just before WC...actually WI were lower then BD (now both teams are on equal points). IMO...ICC wanted to protect not BD...but WI. Zim just tagged alonged. Ire & the rest of the associates were just told by ICC "**** Off" Ireland Cricket issued a notice that they will persure legal action against ICC. Hoping other associates join hands with Ireland....& together they beat ICC legally. **** U ICC :finger:

Do you know how ridiculous you argument is, if BCCI did not want minnows to play in 2015 but it took risk of playing them at home in this one where they had every chance of back firing on their face with poor response from its public. NZ are hosts so they will play, WI,BD and Zim are full member countries so they have play all the world cup BCCI or ICC cannot do anything.
ZImbabwe is not a full test nation member. However, it will retain test status in May.

You are darn right my friend. If you ask me ICC should follow the FIFA way. I think it works something like the host nation and the current cup holder gets the qualification freely where the rest of the nations battles it out (yes even the best in business needs to qualify). I know that ICC wants to protect BD because they have a crazy fan base and with BD ZIM also tagged along but if you are not good enough to qualify then you don't deserve to be shooting for the star. And that goes for all the nations. If you are scared to qualify against associates then honestly speaking WTF are you even in the WC for? I support all the associated here ...

Qualifier, LMAO :hysterical: The ICC ain't touching the 3rd largest cricketing nation. But there should be a qualifier for every one except the hosting nations.

This is the problem, with your population and market the ICC isn't going to remove you from the World Cup despite your usually pathetic performances. In eleven years as a Test nation you have hardly made any progress while a deserving team like Ireland which has taken so many strides despite so many things stacked against them (no FC structure, hardly any ODIs between World Cups, losing best players to England) gets shunted out.

Not for me :--D but ICC should have a FIFA system where every1 goes through qualifiers. plus BD have one of the crappiest FC but Ireland has one of the best aka. County

I think ICC will sooner or later change its decision and there will be a qualifier tournament for the 9th and 10th positions.
I hope u r right....2015 WC no matter whatever the format...needs to be exciting like 2011 WC. 2011 WC was made exciting by Ireland & to some extent Ned. BD were all out twice for less then 100 in this WC. Lets not even talk abt Zim. WI made to QF...thanks to that egoist umpire Ashoka de Silva who didnt even corrected his umpire mistake when referrel told him he is wrong. If not for that Ashoka...Ireland was in QF...with WI knocked out. ICC feeled that in 2015..they cant take that chance...& shut the door on Ireland. This will also strenghted Eng team..because now they can easily get the 3-4 best Ireland player in their team....:hatsoff:

good on them for considering legal action, i mean its pathetic how can they single out teams liek these who are capable fo getting ot the semis (remember kenya in SA 2003 icc world cup)

9 years, crapload of investment, and what the **** as BD done with their Test spot? Ireland, with ICC handouts in peanuts compared to what Zim and Bang get, performed better than these two so called Test nations.

Everyone is already playing qualifiers, which are the ODIs leading up to the WC. Unlike FIFA which has a gazillion teams from which it has to filter it down, in cricket, there aren't that many teams. Making 20 teams play a qualifier to pick 10 is about as absurd as it gets. BTW, if they do play FIFA style qualifier and say 3 teams from Asia based on Asia cup, it will still leave you guys behind.

Ireland for Test status.....if thats what will take them to WC. I m sure in Test Ireland will do much better then Zim & BD
There's no doubt about that. But this needs to happen before Eng steals more Irish.
