Indian trundlers have won test matches on bouncy wickets like DURBAN PERTH HEADINGLEY unlike pakistan fast bowlers who take drugs and bowl big no balls.

Whatever happened to the Deepak Chahar guy who took 6 wickets on his domestic debut...I remember watching his video on youtube were the way he was swinging the ball looked literally unplayable.

Australia has atleast 6 or 7 bowlers who easily clock close to 150 k. I don't think they are doing anything earth shattering. Unless India is going to unearth someone who can clock above 150k it is waste of time focussing too much on pace. At the end of the day' date=' wicket taking ability is more important. 140ks? seriously.. you can beat the batsman with that pace? I doubt so. Malinga is a strike bowler because he is accurate. He can land the ball at the same spot over and over again. He practices it for hours. I am yet to come across a genuine quick who had a successful career without variation.[/quote'] Most of the great fast bowlers have been genuine pacers initially

135 k might have been great pace in the 80s.. pitches have become much flatter. Hiral patel beat the crap out of 150 k deliveries from Aussie bowlers. How would you explain that.

You do not understand the use of genuine pace. A genuine pacer might go for runs in a spell but he can come back in second spell if he gets his pace right and can be effective in PP as well. But 130K medium pacers are hopeless until there is help in the pitch. and the foremost thing is fast bowler needs to be accurate whether he is medium or genuine quick. Look at Pak-India match..How Pak come back through Riyaz after Gul's, their premier pacer, hammering. Riyaj bowls around 145. He did well by using reverse swing to good effect. At low pace, reverse swing too is not that useful. At pace, reverse swing is just unplayable. I still remember an ODI last sumemr in England where Gul wrecked havoc with reverse swing when match was in England's pocket, Gul came back in his last spell and took 6 wickets in quick succession. That is what pace can do. A normal medium pacer wont get that kind of swing in the air because of lack of pace. WE do not have a single pacer right now who can do these kind of things. Zak can take 1-2 wicket with reverse but he too cannot do what Gul and Riyaz did or Malinga or Roach can do.

Holding, Marshall, Thomson, Lillie, Roberts, Ambrose, Imran, Waqar, Wasim, Hadlee, Wes Hall, these guys are not 135k..they were genuinely quick bowlers and considered as all time greats

Above all they all had great controls. And also there were no limitations of bouncer those days. These Varun Aarons, Umesh Yadavs until they prove they have control and some variation are going to be huge flops. They are not going achieve remotely what Irfan pathan has achieved in his career just with pace.

You talk about Varun Aaron and Umesh Yadav..I am not talking about them. There can be others too and there is no guarantee they will be successful, but they have the ingredients for a fast bowler. Swing, seam can come with time. No one is born with these things. They have the gifted talent required a for a fast bowler..now its up to them how they use it and improve from where they are now. Most importantly, how they develop with the team and how team management use them. Where Irfan's those achievements taking him in his career. He is still no where. At one point, we are talking about we want to dominate world cricket and we are no. test and ODI champions and still we are happy with bowlers like Irfan Pathan and RP Singh who despite of good starts could not improve and went downhill. If we think Irfan and RP can be our strike bowlers, we must forget to dominate in cricket. Dominant cricket teams had every player a champion in itself. They had all ingredients covered to do well in any condition. Though its our nature. Our memory is very short. In every field, we are like bhagwaan bharose and this is juts a sport.

Four years from now, India will have express bowling department. We already have a few express bowlers in the domestic arena and I would fancy India's chances to win the 2015 wc as well given that we manage to find three fast bowlers in four years. Slow bowlers are just not going to succeed on OZ and NZ tracks
