Give him some credit as well. There are probably several reasons why he ends up behind the mike during high-stakes matches/events. He obviously must work very hard on his job.

It is not just being one of the commie commentating for the match.. it is commentating for the key moments.

maybe he is put on during key moments cause of his decibel factor lol
Both during yuvi's six sixes and India winning world cup.. he had Bumble next to him. He still managed to steal the moment

Shastri was there during *THAT* test match in 2001 and was obviously there (as a player) in 1983 and 1985 (B&H WorldSeries) . The lucky man has seen more than 90% of all Famous events in Indian Cricket.
Not to mention Hirwani's 16 wickets on debut a world record and the tie test. Infact he was the non striker when the tie happened!!

He was the one who called the India-Pak SF the "Mother of all matches" while wrapping up the Aus QF and it became a meme that spread throughout the media in the next few days.
