Andy Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 because he is Wasim Akram. :haha::haha::haha: I wanted to get the Technical View.
rkt.india Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Pathan was always round armi. Look at the different grips of hilfenhaus wnd steyn. Steyn gets late swing and hilfys not..Pathan also has same grip and hilfy. Hilfy is a tall n strong guy. Akram used to bowl with different grips and actions. He was master
vvvslaxman Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 He won't come back into tests. But for ODIs.. he has decent enough variations to be considered.
rkt.india Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 @ravi whether you agree or not but his grip is not the best and he hasnt changed it in last 4 years. with this, he gets swing from the hand
zub2006 Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 If he can getthe swing back and overall does well in ipl then he should get a chance fir the winidies tour as can see him in the 50 over format and uf that goes well then has to be defo for englan tour whete it will swing
kabira Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Relax Guys, This is first big game after long long injury lay out. He probably played couple of ODIs for Baroda and some club cricket. This was his first big match on big stage. Time off cricket would have helped him go back to basics. I am sure he soon will be in team. We need seamer allrounder for away tours.
Chandan Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Relax Guys, This is first big game after long long injury lay out. He probably played couple of ODIs for Baroda and some club cricket. No. He couldn't play even one one dayer for Baroda and broke down after bowling just 2-3 overs in the 1st Deodhar trophy match. He played a few club games but wonder how many overs they play there in a club game! This was a first big game for him after a loooong and serious injury lay off. Unfortunately I disn't see him. What else did you guys see there. Was he better than Sreesanth, though 4 overs are too little to judge! I also heard that Praveen Kumar played as well. How about Ishant? And the new seamers?
JourneyMan Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Chandan, Ishant was looking good in his first overs, very good. Let's see if he can be consistent. Irfan was decent but he was bowling too many wides, and I think the fact he was run out on 0 was playing on his mind as well. There was all this emphasis on how expensive he was and how he had to justify the price tag. Unnecessary pressure, but it might help him in the future.
rkt.india Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 @chandan pk bowls similar every time he bowls with the new ball. Irfan was nothing special. Ishant looked best among all of them
rkt.india Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Rp seamed the ball but no pace and looked over weight was thrashed by saurabh tiwary in the end overs
vvvslaxman Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Ishant.. also started short and wide. I have to see few more matches from him as with Irfan.
Chandan Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Thanks guys. Of course one match is not going to say anything. Ishant has to sort out the no ball problem, Pathan the wide problem as well as to get the swing back, Pk needs to be accurate as well as as swing it... The tournament is long. Let us see where these bowlers end up. Please keep us updated as I'm not watching IPL.
rkt.india Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Ishant.. also started short and wide. I have to see few more matches from him as with Irfan. Pitch was not good for pacers. He tried to hit the deck hard and generate more pace. IN that process, he bowled a few width deliveries. HE is not a T20 bowler. We need him for Tests only.
rabinjackman Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Irfan Pathan is finished. he is not even the best cricketer in his family
saneindian Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 For someone bowling after so many months post an injury lay off, Irfan bowled reasonably well. Would be interesting to see how he goes from here. Apparently Eric Simmons hs played a major part in DD signing Irfan as Simmons watched him during his rehab at NCA Bangalore and was very impressed. Lets hope irfan can push that speed upto 135 and then swing it as well like he did in his last match.
