RCB rope in Gayle Former West Indies skipper and hard-hitting opener Chris Gayle has been roped in by the Royal Challengers Bangalore as a replacement for left-arm paceman Dirk Nannes who has been ruled out of the remainder of season four of the Indian Premier League due to a side strain. The left-hander, who was formerly with the Kolkata Knight Riders and went unsold during the latest IPL auction in Bangalore early this year, is likely to join the side on Tuesday morning here, according to sources. It is, however, not clear if the 31-year-old will be included for the match against Rajasthan Royals later in the day. Gayle, who was in the highest reserve price tag ($400,000), found no bidders who feared his unavailability for the T20 league given Windies’ international engagements during the same period. But with the West Indies selectors leaving out Gayle along with other senior players Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan for the first two matches of the ODI series against Pakistan, RCB have signed up the explosive batsman who could just provide the much-needed firepower to the struggling Bangalore team. Doesn't help RCB much. At the moment' date=' the franchise has too many batsmen but hardly any good bowlers. What's the point of so many batsmen? Oh and Gayle has not been in form for the past couple of months.[/quote'] Well he can throw in those slow ones.

Gayle can win at least a couple of matches on his own. Moreover, he has a point to prove to the WICB. Good signing this!

More than that I think RCB is hoping that Gayle alone will make a good score (50+) in less than 10 overs so that it becomes easier for the remaining batsmen to either set up a nice total or chase the opposition's score successfully.

Dilshan and Mayank yes. Tiwary is way too low in the batting order for him to do anything. They paid so much to him yet aren't utilizing him properly.

Why no objection to taking him where as Kochi had faced objections from other teams when they wanted to bring in Ganguly? Anyways, happy for Gayle.
Its a replacement for an injured player. So its allowed by IPL. Kochi have the chance coming when Mahela will leave for Eng tour...they can seek replacements & get Ganguly
