panther Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 So who defines quality - President Pervez Musharraf in London or Benazir Amma in hell ? runs which lead to wins runs which are scored on tracks with something in it for the bowlers. so draws are excluded
panther Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I didn't see such "quality" shine through anywhere from Anwar :haha: Maybe something like Sehwag's 201 when the team was all out for 320 odd, or 195 at MCG, or 100 at Durban/SA, or even 150+ in Aus at Adelaide. Pity Anwar loses out at everything - quantity, quality, average, strike rate. As I said, Anwar was an average batsman and in Sehwag-speak Anwar was "ordinary" :giggle: 7 out of anwars 11 centurys have resulted in wins for pak outside pakistan.
Number Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Pakistani fans should be the last to talk about FTBs. Looking at the state of your batting, you'll give them Nishan-e-Haider if they are in your team. LOL 90% of their batsmen can't score at a strike rate 60 on Asian tracks. :hysterical:, and If they do then I bet they are Imran Nazir or Shahid Afridi. One can't find place in the *****iest batting line up and another has become a leg spinner to be in the team. Sehwag will easily walk into any Pakistani Test side of any era. Period.
Crookbond Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 runs which lead to wins runs which are scored on tracks with something in it for the bowlers. so draws are excluded [1] Runs which lead to wins - Which runs don't lead to wins? :dontknow: [2] runs which are scored on tracks with something in it for the bowlers. - Clearly Sehwag has the upper hand here too.
Pagalpanti Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 no it shows that sehwag is a far bigger ftb than anwar. meaningless runs on flat pattas which end in draws boost sehwags average. Didn't know Anwar played innings like 309 and 293 in tests at more than 80 S/R to win his team games.
panther Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 [1] Runs which lead to wins - Which runs don't lead to wins? :dontknow: [2] runs which are scored on tracks with something in it for the bowlers. - Clearly Sehwag has the upper hand here too. these stats say otherwise http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;orderby=batting_average;qualmin1=2000;qualval1=runs;result=1;result=2;template=results;type=batting And when opposition countries are concerned sehwags average drops even further. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;home_or_away=2;orderby=batting_average;qualmin1=2000;qualval1=runs;result=1;result=2;template=results;type=batting
Ultimate_Game Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 7 out of anwars 11 centurys have resulted in wins for pak outside pakistan. Function of bowling not batsmen  You can count on a Paki to bring in such Lahori logic :haha: runs which lead to wins runs which are scored on tracks with something in it for the bowlers. so draws are excluded Yup like in Aus and SA :haha: Maybe something like Sehwag's 195 at MCG, or 150 at Adelaide, or 100 at Durban or maybe 201 out of 320 in SL :dontknow: Anwar won't have any of those innings coz he was a pretty average batsman and on helpful tracks he went missing just like Inzi and Yusuf :giggle:
Ultimate_Game Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Anwar and Sehwag comparison makes as much sense as Inzamam Vs Tendulkar or Akmal Vs Kohli :haha: Pakis try their best to biggy up their players but rest of the world simply laugh tem off Maybe if they get lucky they may get a new Anwar in Toffee umar or Imran Nazir :hysterical:
Crookbond Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 these stats say otherwise http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;orderby=batting_average;qualmin1=2000;qualval1=runs;result=1;result=2;template=results;type=batting And when opposition countries are concerned sehwags average drops even further. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;home_or_away=2;orderby=batting_average;qualmin1=2000;qualval1=runs;result=1;result=2;template=results;type=batting If you don't want me to go on an abuse (and I'm holding very tightly here!) - you need to quantify these stats. Just don't post random numbers which don't make sense [1] Runs which led to wins - All runs lead to wins, cricket is a team game. So a 100 is a 100, lost or won. It's not Sehwag's fault if the bowlers can't pick up 20 wickets - you are conveniently selecting that stat to show case false superiority. To prove this point you have to take all innings of each player and rank by those which had significant weights to it. Then sort them by descending order and check who has more "weight". Just like you said quality greater than quantity. So if Sehwag played 1 inning which was worth 0.9 (on a scale of 0.0 to 1.0) and Anward played 7 innings each worth 0.1 - Sehwag is still a match winner. [2] runs which are scored on tracks with something in it for the bowlers. - Here too you have to list down only those innings which had something in it for the bowlers. Not all Test matches played at Australia/England will be "juicy". The recent Test match at Oval is a prime example for it. Once you have done that repeat the weighting scheme in [1] once again. After doing both of these - come up with numbers and we can iterate over it. This if you are serious about comparing Anwar to Sehwag which you don't - at least it looks so.

He himself knows like most Pakis who's better just like in case of Inzi & Tendulkar or Akmal & Kohli :haha: You can slice and dice stats to show anything you want to show but talk to fans world over and see what they think of the comparison. By the way we didn't even talk about SR where Sehwag once again pawns Anwar big time. I am sure this guy would have come up with a stat to show how great Anwar was had Anwar managed to have a higher SR than Sehwag :giggle: It's of the paki themes - out of tens of stats where player A is better than a Paki player, find a stat or a filter where Paki player comes out looking slightly better, and treat that as the most important stat :haha:
master22 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I might not be a fan of Sehwag but still sehwag>>>any paki bat minus miandad

maniac Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Lol The funniest thing in that stat above was the aussies getting owned by I'stick my booty out to'Jazz Ahmed....3 100's to him :woot:
Trichromatic Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 runs which lead to wins runs which are scored on tracks with something in it for the bowlers. so draws are excluded This logic assumes that runs scored matches where opposition scored big runs and batsmen of touring team failed leading to loss are better than runs scored in which opposition scored big runs and batsman of touring team saved the match by playing good inning. Ex http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63854.html Anwar scored 61 and 119. Pakistan lost badly and this run has been included in your stats assuming that pitch had something for bowlers. Australia scored 575 on this pitch facing Wasim and Akhtar. While Sehwag's 180 is considered to be scored on absolute patta because match was drawn. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/239921.html even when opposition could score only 509 after losing 17 wickets. :hmmm:

More to point If Sehwag played for Pakistan he would be their best batsman of all time . There is no fricking way Anwar and Sehwag go in the same sentence.

panther Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 most matches which are draws are due to them being played on flat tracks that's why I excluded them in the stats i posted. these stats show that sehwag is a far bigger ftb than anwar.
Crookbond Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 So matches which are draws are played on flat tracks. Interesting theory! I don;t understand how people distort. here's some First Order Logic lesson in Implication Flat tracks => Draws and NOT Draws => Flat Tracks
