Alcohol does not cause accidents, drunk driving does. Blame the irresponsible people who choose to drive after being inebriated, instead of picking on a drink. It is the human mentality to pick a scapegoat and appropriate blame for all of the wrongs they see around them. One thing I have always fail to understand is why these people keep yapping endless about how test cricket is dying in India. I would like to ask them – have they ever seen test matches in India? When was this form of the game, ever alive in India? Most of the cricketing fan base in india does not and will not care about test cricket. It was the case before, it is the case now and will be the case going forward. As sad and unfortunate it may sound, that is the reality of the situation that we find ourselves today. I do find it weird that these commentators choose to pick on India for harming the game, when there’s much happening elsewhere that is causing palpable negative impact. For starters, maybe we can get our friends from across the border to play a full series without looking to bolster their bank balances. Our if we could stop their players from indulging in ther numerous experiements with steroids, or their board with their unfailing attemps to shield the culprits. Or how about the in the carribbean itself? Maybe the WICB could actually pay the players a reasonable wage so that they stop threatening to strike? Or how about putting and end to this seemingly endless player-board confrontation that is forcing their best player to sit out in a series against the world champions? If that isn’t enough, if only we could stop the English govt. from medlding into the cricketing affairs by trying to score political points against the Mugabe govt. in Zimbabwe by fiddling around with Zimbabwe’s test status? Lets get one thing straight – the most of BCCI’s top guys are utter scumbags. They have no interest in the game whatsoever and are in cricket administration to purely pad their own profiles. The IPL as an entity, was created solely for the purpose of money-spinning and publicity garnering for the different stakeholder involved – bcci officials, owners, businessmen, film-stars, broadcasters etc. But to blame the IPL for the apparent troubles in the test arena is laughable.

But there is great interest in tests and good tv watching and also people do follow what is happening and want India to win. Great interest in media and people in following the 5 days of tests. I would be interested to know what actual viewing figures are, as bet they are often very good. Also if we did hold matches in bigger, more established cities then attendances would also increase. eg hold games in Eden gardens and bet there would be many a sell out.
