Stop this hate against Bhaji

Recommended Posts

You still have not explained why is he being singled out when he outperformed 8 players in last match. No critisim for Mukund' date=' Vijay but all ire directed towards Harby.[/quote'] you do know he was criticized for his bowling not batting don't you? Last i know both Mishra and bhajji were criticized. Unfortunately there are no guys like you for Mishra to create a thread. While batting M.Vijay was duly criticized. Unfortunately it escaped your eyes. Even if Bhajji had got out to duck nobody would have criticized him.

All I ask of him is to take 2 wickets of any of the top 6 batsmen in each innings on a consistent basis.
A quick look at the wickets he has got and the chances he has created in the last 12 tests he has played against major opposition 1. SA series in India Cape town test- no wickets in first innings, 4 top order wickets in the 2nd Durban test- In the 1st innings, did not bowl at the top order, took 4/10 all tail end wickets, Got Alviro Peterson and ABDV out in the 2nd innings Centurion test- Got Peterson out, Amal was dropped of his bowling by MSD early on in his innings 2. NZ series in India Nagpur test- Got Ryder out in the first innings, Mcintosh, Hopkins, Taylor, Ryder was dropped by Gauti Hyderabad test- Guptil dropped by Dhoni, Southee dropped by Gauti, Got Ryder, Vettori, Southee and Martin out. In the 2nd innings, Had Mccullum dropped by Pujara, got Williamson out Ahmedabad test- Got Taylor and bowled rubbish for rest of the innings 3. Aus Series in India Bangalore test- Got Katich, North and Clarke out, had Ponting dropped by Zaheer and North dropped by Dravid bfore finally getting out, In the 2nd innings, took Katich and North's wickets. Mohali Test- Had Clarke and Watson's wickets. In the 2nd innings, Had Katich dropped by Dravid, North's stumping chance missed by MSD, got Hussey and North finally. 4.SL series in SL 1st test- Had Paranavitarana dropped by Gauti, But bowled rubbish 2nd test- Bowled quite badly. Was not fit enough to play and should not have played the test match. 5. SA series in India Nagpur test- Had Amla dropped by Vijay and MSD (twice), Got Kallis and Duminy Kolkata test- Had Amla dropped by VVS, got Kallis, Prince and Duminy out. In the 2nd innings, had Amla and Prince dropped by Vijay, Harris dropped by Badri, Morkel dropped by MSD, Got Prince, Peterson , Duminy out. Source- CI commentary for these tests Thats last 12 tests before the WI test match, 33 top order wickets (out of the 48 that he has taken) along with some 14-15 dropped/missed chances. Add them all together and what you have is not such a bad performance. Also looking at that list of chances dropped off his bowling, just imagine the difference it would have made to his numbers if even 50% of those chances had been held, some of them in his first spell (and when it's clearly documented that Bhajji is doubly dangerous once he takes an early wicket)! Another major reason why his numbers look so bad in the SL series in SL where he took 2/300+ runs in 2 test matches. IIRC he was half fit for that series (sdie strain) and was forced to play as we were missing Zak and Sree. Having said this though, Bhajji will be the first one to admit that he should have bowled better and attacked more in some of his spells. He has surprisingly stopped bowling the doosras completely but hasn't been able to add another variation to his bowling as a variation. Once again to reiterate, I am not a Punjabi.

Shameful part is that both Mukund and Vijay failed and nobody asked for their replacement to be Parthiv but it is the faishonable thing to go after Harbhajan.
It means you do not see any difference between Bhajji and Mukud and Vijay..one is making his debut and second one is just 10 tests old and Bhajji has 12 years of experience and on one of the spin friendliest wicket he bowled like a part timer or even worse sometimes. Harbhajan at thsi stage can only be compared to Kumble, Warne, and Murli and irony is that people fear of even compare him to Swann..that says how inconsistent he has been with the ball. Some of the people talking about SA series..yeah he was great in that series but before and after he has been very shoddy. Even in WC, he bowled so many leg side 5 wides and he has become a specialist in that art while we cannot even see one doosra form him. With so much experience, he must know who to adjust to pitches, even on 5th he was bowling rubbish. We are not talking about his batting here. Batting is an advantage, but he is a bowler first, if only batting was the criteria, we would have still playing Irfan Pathan and he could have opened the batting as well. With so much experience, he should have eaten pathetic WI batting on his own, but he was fortunate to take even 1-2 wickets in an innings. Kumble, Warne, and Murli even Swann would have had more impact on this game. He will not get this kind of pitch most often and he should have taken full advantage of it.

Did you pull this "fact" from your ass?
VVS...I base this "fact" on having a lot of international experience as well as living in India and working with Indians from all over the country. Let me explain the problem with regionalism in the country and my Australian comment. When the American basketball team puts together their "Dream Team" we dont hear....oh "too many guys from the east cost etc" When the Canadian hockey team put together their national team we never hear "too many guys from Toronto...politics as usual give the guys from Vancouver a chance" When the Australians put their team together we dont hear "too many guys from Queensland...we want Sydney fellows...Gilly is there cause of politics etc" No... Only in India and to a lesser extent Pakistan of all places is this prevalent. We hear Ashwin is being kept off the team cause he is a timid South Indian...Bhajji is on the team strictly cause of politics and he is Dhoni's lackey. If India truely wants to be world beaters they would have to have the guts to select all 11 starting players from Mirzapur if that's where the top 11 players resided. Australia would have no issues with a team full of 12 Aboriginals...the US no issue with a basketball team full of all black players and Canada no issue with a team full of all small town folk none of which are from the big cities. Can anyone honestly say the same for India?

:hysterical: lol at the last line....sadly if someone defends Bhajji they must be a Punjabi and as a result defenders need to prove their regional neutrality. God no wonder the British were able to turn us against ourselves so easily.

What a load of bullcrap. We are talking about Bhajji's lack of form, lack of confidence and inability to bowl well and get wickets. I dont know how regionalism came into the picture.

Whom are you referring to? and what do you think about Ashwin c0ck suckers?
I meant both. People who bash him needlessly and people who bring in regional nonsense. Don't worry, nothing against you. I think Harbhajan is a match winner and would have him in my squad over Ashwin. Simple as that.

Once again this thread explains why India still can never dominate the way a team like Australia did in the late 90s early 2000s. Half the people here hate Bhajji cause hes a punjabi...other half love him cause hes a punjabi. People here need to get over their regionalism and realize that Dhoni and Co will always field the best possible side depending on conditions and health of players.
:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: It's there in every country. Talk to a Victorian and watch them moan about how their players should be picked and the bias in favour of NSW.

In Hayden's words 'The obnoxious weed' will indeed play as the sides sole spinner in case they decide to have one spinner. What a tragedy that time and again the side is stuck with this Dartbhajan when they could have indeed invested in other spinners and in turn unearth a decent Test spinner if given an extended run that HS gets for no reason. Damn it.
