Zaheer's performance in last 2 years (10 matches) can affect this poll. Zaheer had better support from bowlers and batsman. Yet he was fairly inconsistent and when he reached his peak, he became inconsistent with his fitness. Srinath > Zaheer

^And you always take my posts seriously ? :icflove: I was kidding re baba, Its got to be Srinath for his fitness, Zak is too bad in that department. But a fully fit Zak > Srinath anyday :agree:
You are undermining Srinath. I am yet to see a single spell from Zaheer like 6 fer at Motera against SA and 8-fer against Pak at Eden Gardens.

If we had better back up bowlers, Srinath and Zaheer wouldnt have been required to bowl so many overs at a stretch and would have taken rest between games, so that they could have avoided injuries and played longer. Unfortunately we never had 3 or 4 good pace bowlers in our squad. Another reason why Australia, South Africa and now England will have better chances to win consistently because they have a big reserve pool of pace bowlers.

Srinath. If only we had played 8-10 tests every year between 91-95 (when Srinath used to bowl at his quickest), he would have ended with 350+ test wickets.
I would say if we had better slip fielders and better fielding and catching standards during Srinath's time, he may still have ended with atleast 30 more wickets than he did. And I am being modest with the nos of missed wickets here. I cant recall how many times I saw Srinath missing out on his hattricks. I remember 4 occassions clearly when he missed out on a hatrick because of slip fielders dropping catch. What he could have done with a better bowling partner is anyone's guess. Having said that, Zaheer of today is regarded as the best left armer in the world ( presently )...This is something Srinath never enjoyed. Although we should also not forget that Srinath's initial years were stolen by someone called Kapil Dev. Srinath lost about 3 yrs of internation cricket because Kapil would not retire and nobody would give Srinath a chance ! My verdict - Srinath was the better bowler .

Srinath was not even sure in the eleven because of Kapil Dev and Manoj Prabhakar were there.

Are yaar, more test matches between 91-94 would have meant Kapil paaji getting past Hadlee by mid 92 itself, would have paved the way for Srinath to play at least 20-25 additional tests in that period when he was really quick and did not have any injuries. We played only 27 tests between 1991-1995. Had we played more, Sri could have crossed 300+ tests wickets, Kumble would have ended at 700+ test wickets and by now Sachin would have got 60 test 100s and perhaps 17000 test runs. Not to be.

I just said that he also missed tests because Prabhakar and Kapil Dev were there, especially in India where we only plays with 2 pacers and we played abroad very less then.

Kapil paaji and Prabhakar would bowl 4-5 overs and then over to the trioka of Kumble, Raju and Chauhan :winky:
