Cricket Tragic Posted July 6, 2011 Author Posted July 6, 2011 Athers called Cook a 'donkey' and a 'plodder'. After the last game, things were tense in the presentation ceremony. :cantstop: So they brought Nas in for this game and again there was an issue.

Fontaine Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 The problem with Atherton is that he was an absolute bunny to the good bowlers in his time and unfortunately for him there were a lot of good bowlers in his time. I can't remember if it was Walsh or Ambrose but Atherton was visibley afraid of facing them and even his own friends like Hussein/Gowers etc make fun of him because of that. It makes him a jealous and bitter like biatch basically. But what's much worse is that the guy has the charisma and personality of a dead fish.

I dont see many teams out there just blowing other teams away with sheer pace, infact I dont see any teams do that. As for the presentation, Cook is performing and licking the ball everywhere so no worries there.

Peter Siddle and Australia pretty much blew away England in the one test where there was pace and bounce ( no real swing ) in the Ashes series. South Africa is another with Steyn/Morkel.

South Africa is another with Steyn/Morkel. The Perth test had pace and bounce, yet also a lot of swing, I mean if Mitchell Johnson is swinging the ball into the right handers then it says it all. And as for the great Steyn and Morkel, when they came up against the mighty pakistani batting line up in Dubai they couldnt buy a wicket, yes the same Pakistan who have been made to look foolish in every series they have played in the last few years.

Not to mention the fact of the matter that the man is quite easily one of the most biased people in terms of english commentators, and in general the cricket world! Despite this he has come up with a few decent articles in the paper if im being modest here, arguably the worst (with beefy) commentator with sky sports have produced currently!

It’s always been the case, even going back to the old Texaco Trophy days when I was a player, that England have done well at home. Before the series, I’d have made them favourites to beat Sri Lanka. And on grassy wickets, where the ball is seaming and swinging around, they really ought to beat teams from the Subcontinent. Sri Lanka’s score of 174 was no great surprise. On target: James Anderson (centre) took three wickets at Trent Bridge But these days, with cricket’s power shift to south Asia, you are not a complete player until you know how to ply your skills on flat pitches. All England’s bowlers needed to do was retreat into their default mode: land the ball on a length with an upright seam and trust in the pitch to help them out. When that happens, they look like the best team in the world. But does it tell us much? Not really. On the plus side, it may have reminded Stuart Broad that he’s so much better when he pitches the ball up. Yes, his two wickets came via short balls, but it’s because they had an element of surprise. All this enforcer stuff doesn’t sit comfortably with me. Welcome reminder: Stuart Broad was back to his best on his home ground I was also impressed with the way Alastair Cook came out and took on Sri Lanka’s bowlers. His capacity for learning is astonishing. He hasn’t played much one-day cricket for Essex or England, so it’s almost been tricky to gauge how good he is in this form of the game. Even though the Sri Lankans served up a few freebies, this was still an impressive knock. Zak was MOS last time England toured India and Ishant when Australia toured India before England. Zak had a fantastic record in 2010 even with bowling a lot on lifeless Indian pitches.

If you are talking about the Gabba test then yes, Siddle blew England away in the 1st innings but England fought back and easily held on for a draw. In the Perth test it was Mitchell Johnson who blew England away and the ball was definitely swinging as well.
