saneindian Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Mukund has shown a good temperament even though technically there are some issues with his batting. But it could be a case of neither him nor Vijay being picked for the England tour and Parthiv Patel asked to open with GG till Viru gets fit for 2nd or 3rd test. However if Viru is unfit and is ruled out of the tour, we may see both being picked and there being a 17 member team for England.
Andy Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I am not impressed of what I saw from Mukund, I would still prefer Vijay over him. Its more of a case of Vijay playing poor shots than being technically found out. Pretty much what happens with layers like DK and RGS in ODIS.
jusarrived Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Mukund is quality , a few more opportunities we will see a different player ..much more free flowing which we see in domestic . Today he played quite a few classy shots , both on the up and frontfoot
deepak_sach Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Anderson is nothing more than a trundler and he can only bowl when it is cloudy...
Sidhoni Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Vijay should be dropped in the third test and PaPa should play.
Number Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 till now what we've seen is Vijay can't play a moving ball for toffee , mukund has shown that there is a fighter in him , he is 21 and never played on pitches like this , but still one can see there is difference in his 11 in first test first inning and this 48 , he is waiting for it a lot because of it those inside edges are reduced by good no. , another thing is that he looks success hungry. bounce on this pitch is so steep/inconsistent that playing on front foot is very difficult and dangerous . I think he deserves more time. Give a 21 yr old a chance on the pitches where even proven scorers are failing and then kick him out , is not a good way to treat talent.
Midfielder Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Vijay should be dropped in the third test and PaPa should play. Exactly.
desi pride 1234 Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 i would pick dinesh karthik who played well in england as an opener.
Sid Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Seems like VJ forgot how to build an innings in test as well.Very disappointed with him,on the contrary Mukund played a good innings yesterday.Unlike the previous inning,Mukund wasnt lunging forward at every ball and was playing late .He has certainly outbatted VJ by a mile in this seres.
Cricketics Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 I haven't seen enough of Mukund really to call him better than Vijay, but since Vijay has failed a bit, I would love to see Mukund getting a nod over Vijay if ever these 2 are in question and 1 of them has to be picked. Mukund, with all the runs he has scored, definately deserves more than 1 series. Would be nice to see him score a century in 3rd test.
ganeshran Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 This is dumb. Except the last innings Mukund looked far more ill at ease than Vijay. I think VJ should have been persisted with over Mukund.
anotherhawkeye Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 This is dumb. Except the last innings Mukund looked far more ill at ease than Vijay. I think VJ should have been persisted with over Mukund. He was good in the first test, second innings as well. He had 2 good innings out of his first 4 innings. Thats better than MV, who is/has become a FTB.
aseemraina Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 This is dumb. Except the last innings Mukund looked far more ill at ease than Vijay. I think VJ should have been persisted with over Mukund. I second that..Vijay has to be shown the door and he has to earn his spot.. His body language is also very casual...Should serve him right... If he works hard, then he should be given a chance otherwise RATAN TATA....
sarcastic Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 Seems like the selectors are following ICF discussions!!! :--D
