What is Akram doing in there when he is not even the best Pakistani pacer.
He is the best Pakistani pace bowler and moreover offers a left hand option in the attack. Imran was great, but not as good as Akram IMO and Waqar is quite frankly one of the most overhyped bowlers ever - was good till the pace lasted in the first 4-5 years against the weaker teams, but was hardly ever a threat to the best batsmen in the world. Testimonies from great batsmen who actually faced these guys never even mention Waqar as a challenge and everyone lauds Akram.

Kapil ahead of Kallis' date=' Hadlee, Botham, Imran, Sobers is a joke[/quote'] I have not seen Sobers but I have seen Kapil. His nos maynot be good but he turned Indian cricket on its head. He was the most enjoyable player I have watched. In the end it is all about wins not some stats. Others did not win jack whereas Kapil was successful in taking a average team and winning WC. The greatest ever.

Kapil featured in 24 wins in 131 tests at less then 19% win ratio. unfiltered 1978-1994 131 5248 163 31.05 8 434 9/83 29.64 23 64 0 Profile filtered 1979-1994 24 904 109 33.48 1 90 7/56 18.30 3 18 Imran featured in 26 wins in 88 tests at nearly 30%. unfiltered 1971-1992 88 3807 136 37.69 6 362 8/58 22.81 23 28 0 Profile filtered 1976-1992 26 900 117 36.00 1 155 8/58 14.50 11 10 0 Imran averages 36 to kapils 33 with the bat in wins and 14 to 18 with the ball.Vote whoever you want but dont even TRY to suggest Kapil was a better match winner then other all rounders.

Good point. I got carried away with my admiration for this man which he deserves. I dont dispute the nos you have but they dont tell the full story. Imran came when Pakistan had well established pace attack and Kapil came when Bedi was the Captain and the four spinners thought no one else could take any wickets. He was in wrong place at wrong time bu that still does not diminish his importance. Imran was good too but call it personal bias. preference or whatever for me Kapil was the best ever.

Other point is that he had the courage to go against establishment, stood his ground and at the same time always led the team. A very polite caring individual who never sought any spotlight. No blemish against his personal orr private life, like I said the best ever. If you dont believe it ask me. Seriously.

Fair enough its down to personal choice mate.I thought you were bringing WC win to prove his deserved a place in test 11.To me Sobers is the best all rounder to have played the game. Kapil is one of my favourite Indian players and was a damn good player.

Well, if I answer that honestly, several people including you will start sobbing about hurt sentiments. But that does not change the fact about what you came across as by making that dumb post. Just, so you know that list is not of the best batsmen by the ICC but of the highest peak ratings obtained in the ICC rankings.
Maturity teaches people to accept everyone's opinions. By the looks of it, you want to run about crying "idiot, idiot" whenever someone disagrees with you. Frankly, thats extremely childish. Grow up. As far as my post and the "rankings" go, it was simply tit-for-tat. And I was talking to Serani, not you.

Just one question here. Why Gilchrist over Dhoni? Both are similar batsmen. Dhoni has won the ODI WC as has Gilchrist, but Dhoni did it with an average bowling attack. Dhoni is the better captain. Dhoni won the T 20 WC and lead us to #1 in tests too. Dhoni's wicket keeping is better too. I mean in terms of athletics and general jumping around the field. Very close to call between the two.

Gilchrist redefined the role of wicket keeper. I think you should hold your horses for Dhoni till he retires.

Dhoni still has long way to go in test matches. He hasn't done much in longer format of the game. On the other hand Gilly was one of the most important batsman for Australia. He won many matches on his own and his wicket-keeping skills were better than Dhoni, at least in my opinion.

You stand corrected. Farokh Engineer did.
