There is no need to worry about Lords or any other venue as they are just hype. Hype is right I'm starting to wonder if its like us in the World Cup Maybe the added stress of expectation gets to him Just guessing, but he didn't look as composed as he usually does as you all say though, he's not the first great to struggle there

In both innings he complained about the sight screen and on one occasion Broad got his wicket, on the other Broad had a great LBW turned down.

It's because of that people expect him to perform or score tons in important/big matches. However, he is not been very successful because he is not the type that thrives under pressure. Pressure affects him negatively. Nevertheless, he has done a lot for Indian and world cricket, and will always be considered a legend.

Really stupid statement about pressure affecting him negatively when he has delivered before on such hype and situations. Heres what happen nds with sachin. We remember his failures more than his success. For example no one will say laxman failed to save this match. Or that dravids hundred was in a losing cause. We notice their successes. we notice sachns failures..
kabira Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Until now even Rahul Dravid did not have 100. 100 at Lords is special, we saw how Rahul was so excited, you never such excitement from him. I am Sachin will always have that regret of not even scoring a 50 here. First innings he was looking good and even last time around he was looking good. But may be some voodoo effect, he gets out before 50. It happens to many batsman at certain grounds. It took Sachin a few test matches to score 100 in Eden Gardens whereas Likes of Azhar and Laxman scored 100 everytiem they played there. Its just sometimes certain grounds are just not good for you no matter what and how you play there. All in all its destiny for him not to ever score 100 here. It was destiny for him to win a world cup at Mumbai and that too his last WC game.

BERGKAMP Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 He can still get an ODI century at lords, but agree it really is no big deal. If anything conditions for batting at lords are easier than most other English ground so it would take a bit away from a century.

If test champions play offs are in England, we might aswell face England @Lords in 2013 and then offcourse we are touring England again in 2014 :))) Tendulkar might score 4 centuries for that matter @ Lords. But then who cares.

Try being a tad original the next time around, will you? I can't understand why people get their undies in a twist every time there's a Sachin thread that discusses his batting style. No one was even criticising him, it's an observation, and a right one at that. I've not been dissing him, ffs so stop trying to roleplay as some kind of fascist cop on here. And as for the others saying he's played well under pressure- someone rightly said there's a difference between carrying the burden of a billion or more fans and dealing with a pressure cooker situation on the field. Sachin is just someone who is his best when he's in his natural element, playing with flair and a carefree attitude, and that pretty much goes for most players in our team, not just him- save for a few. Like I said, there are some who play sublimely under immense pressure, but that doesn't mean I'm upping them on some kind of pedestal. If someone had started a thread about Dhoni also going into his shell and unsuccessfully trying his hand at defense rather than his usual strokeplay, I would have made the same observations about him. So what now, does that make me a Dhoni hater? Spare me the tripe.

WTF? So anything goes at Lord's because it's the 'home of cricket'? What crap. Imagine if there was a ground like that in India, the neo-imperialist idiots would've been having a field day about the 'sub-standard' Indian pitches. And as for the OP- there are several players who haven't done well on certain grounds, not just Sachin- but he's always talked about because he's the biggest name out there, and I guess 'pundits' never leave any stone unturned in trying to find chinks in a God's armour. I don't think he got bogged down by people's expectations, he's lived with that his whole life- rather, I think he got affected by the situation on the field, and add to that, he wasn't even a 100%. Perhaps the whole deal about his below par record at Lord's may have been at the back of his mind as well? The same was being said about Dravid till he hit a ton after so many years, so I wouldn't write off Sachin at Lord's just yet.

We can also very well have a golf-course kind of curvy pitch at wankhede - in the name of history. And let visitors adjust to it.
