pinkfreud Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I know this is a bit premature, but there are rumours that Zaheer and Sehwag may just be around for the 3rd match in Edgbaston. I haven't read anything about Gambhir's likelihood to play as well, but I'm assuming he'll be fit. This is quite a quandary for the team because the replacements- i.e. Sree and Yuvraj, have risen to the occasion, even if only once, and even though it's all too early to laud their 'return to form'. I don't know much about the Edgbaston pitch, but from what I've looked up, the team bowling first seems to have had the upper hand, and as usual, there's not much help for spinners. It's had its fair share of criticism, and KP and Strauss also seem to do pretty well here. My playing XI for this kind of pitch would be: Gambhir Sehwag Dravid ST Laxman Yuvraj/Raina Dhobi Zaheer PK Ishant Sree ...given that it's highly unlikely Darty would be dropped anyway, which of the seamers would you have sit out for this game?
gaurav92 Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Hopefully Veeru, Gauti and Zak are fit to play My team then would be : Sehwag Gambhir Dravid Sachin Laxman Yuvraj Dhoni Bhajji Praveen Ishant Zaheer Sadly Sree has to miss out even after performing well. One can even drop either of the three seamers as all of them have done well so far. But if any of the seamer looks clueless in the second innings, we can replace him with Zak in the next Test provided he is fit.

Andy Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Mishra plays for me ahead of ZAK. Dont think he can be match fit and equally effective in such a short span of time.

Rahul Dravid Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Sehwag Gautam Gambhir Rahul Dravid Sachin Tendulkar Laxman Yuvraj Dinesh Karthik ZAK PK Anil Kumble Sree
zen Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Whatever happens in the 2nd test, in the next two Ind will have to pick 40 wkts, either to draw or win the series .... With Sehwag, arguably our best batsman in tests, likely to return, the X factor returns to batting .... what's needed is for bowling to click: Zak, Sree and Ishant should be able to pick wkts, we can have PK, Munaf and Mishra fight it out for 4th bowler's spot or even go in with 5 bowlers
