I think he has been kept for multiple roles. The way our Prima-Donnas behaving and getting 'injured/ill' based on their performances, I would'nt be surprised if the need arises for Dravid to open the innings..

Many bowlers who were picked ahead of him have not been picked after so few games. This selection comittee is a joke. They have no real vision fof future.

The selectors actually think we will be humiliated in the ODIs, they have selected RD to prevent that from happening through his solid batting. This is such a shame!! Someone asked earlier in the thread, "why the panic?", Don't you still see?? We have made a mess of the succession and it is unfolding in front of us at a rate which is beyond our ability to manage. Srikkanth and co definitely need to go!

Indeed a baffling decision. Surely it's got to be a stop-gap decision, for this one tour only. Can't imagine Rahul going on and holding a place in our ODI side when we have so many guys waiting for a chance. Kohli, Raina and Rohit Sharma are the chosen ones anyway. I don't think Rahul will get a chance in the XI. Unless Dhoni decides to take a break and Rahul keeps. The way Dhoni has been looking of late, it really looks like he needs some rest.

You people are over-reacting too much. Since CT 2009, we pretty much played without Tendulkar and played young guys in all ODI's, we build a young team for World cup and won it. Next one is 4 years away, so whats the problem if Dravid gets to play his last series? We shouldn't only concentrate on building team, we gotta win series' too lol

This would be the likely 11: - Sehwag (Part timer, if he can bowl ?) - 10 - GG - Dravid - Raina (Part timer) - Rohit (Part timer) - Dhoni - Ashwin - PK - Sree / Ishant - Munaf Zak probably can rest out this series considering how he is struggling to even show up
