RP Singh to replace Zaheer

I haven't seen RP bowl lately so can't comment but if he has become a trundler then it would have been better to try out some of the upcoming quicks (relatively) I read some comments saying RP is a good pick coz he did well in 2007, I can't imagine some would want to select a player based on his perfo 4 years ago unless RP is still very much the same bowler that he was then

i think zak is more upset that he is gonna miss the champions league than anything else

Should have been sent to England immediately after the 1st day of Lord's test when Zak pulled up that hamstring. Would have given him a good 2 weeks to be in England and be ready for the 3rd test if at al we felkt a need to have a 3rd seamer. As things stand right now, he would reach England perhaps in the next 3-4 and may not even be ready to play a test match. Could play in a couple of ODIs though.

How exactly Varun would have been a "great choice" . RP has proven record in England, OZ, SA. What is Varun?
RP hardly bowls 130+ nowadays. I was watching highlights of RP's bowling in england few days back and he was hitting 135-140 regularly. He got away with the short pitch delieveries(which he bowls every over) because of his pace. We have not seen any improvement since then. He has been struggling with injuries and hardly done anything at domestic level. Varun wuda been a great choice because we can see he has the potential to bowl at good pace and reverse swing it with pace.

Good points.I feel that they might not play him straightaway even if he is available as he isnt really bowling fit.Maybe in the next few tests.
Test series would be over by then :P

bring back irfan pathan' date='and he strengthens the batting!!!![/quote'] But do we know anything about his match fitness and bowling form? Complete hypothesis. Compared to lot of Aussie pace bowlers Varun is a nobody. They bowl lot faster and lot longer than Varun. Yet they could not break through English line up. How the heck Varun who has hardly done anything in any level of note "will make a difference".

Lack of height may go against Varun

Which aussie bowler u r gonna compare with varun? i am sure varun whould have got selected instead of vinay atleast if he was an aussie. RP is no better than vinay, both of them bowl at the same pace. U will realaise once rp gets a game for india. RP has no confidence in his bowling bro, u can see that with his body language and the way he speaks. Varun would have been a nice surprise for the english batsmen. Unless u give a chance to youngster, u would never know abt them.

He doesn't have any skills to back it up other than bowling few fast balls. We don't want another Unadkat situation here.

aussie bowlers bowled same pace or slower than aaron ,in world cricket there are few bowler who can bowl 145+ and talking about australian bowlers they hardly maintained line and length and got any movement as their seam position was horrible particularly johnson. we should groom aaron as he has good cricketing mind also they are showing a interview of him on neo where he says he is a front on ball and talks basics about his action and training ,he talks sense

But that doesnt mean u select a player who haven not done anything at the domestic level to justify his selection. U gotta select a player consdiering his current form. I have watched the deodhar trophy and varun did swung the ball at pace. Dont compare the trundler unadkat with varun or umesh pls.

Lack of height may go agnst Varun
Varun looks short but he is as tall as rp, zak, irfan, taller than sreeshanth and pk both. Watched highlights of one ipl game and he was taller than pathan when both standing together

Yes if he is very special. Frankly he is not special. Neither is Umesh.

@vvs i tell you there are not many pacers other than internationals even in australia domestic or county who can clock 145+ easily, only patrick cummins in australia who is slower than aaron, stuart meaker is the only 1 in counties except internationals.
