Sree may not be the best but he is definitely not rubbish. Way they treat him is rubbish. He gives it all whenever he steps in the field so let us not make generalizations that he is rubbish.
Gives it all means nothing when you cannot control your bowling and spray it allover in excitement. Cricket is more mind game where he needs to be sure as what he is going to do, not like what he did in WC final, ran like fool in his run up and bowled like foolish and after 3 overs was not even able to complete his run up let alone bowling well. He did not have the stamina bowl fast, neither he has now.

Cricket god....:yaar yoj could see his bowling specially his run up after 3 overs. he was all over the place and playing a match after one month is no excuse as an international. he must be bowling in the nets. he was with the team. whole world cup.

Sreeshanth needs to learn how to do chamchagiri of seniors from Harbhajan, Bhajji's friendship/chamchagiri of Sachin,Dada,Kumble and his business partnership with Dhoni definetely has stood him good stead all these years. Not taking anything away from him as a performer but the above mentioned have more often than not bailed him out of a sticky situation. Unfortunately for Sree he is in the wrong books of MSD

Pace bowlers develop over time. He will get better and he is not bad to begin with.

Sreesanth didnt do any worse in this WC final than our current no.1 strike bowler Zaheer did in WC final 2003. Give him some support and he will do better...
That is so true. On an another note India should have won that WC if instead of Zak Kumble was played and India opted for batting first after the toss. Dada missed a trick or two at that time.

Zaheer was among the highest wicket takers in World cup 2003. He had only one bad game that was final. Sreeshanth was not even able to make it to top 3 seamers in WC eleven. He made it when Nehra got injured. You are comparing Sreeshanth to Zaheer:haha:

I didn't compare today's Sreesanth with today's Zaheer. There is no comparison, Zaheer is miles ahead than Sree. Zaheer failed in the WC 2003 finals because of the occassion and pressure within himself to perform. Not because of lack of talent in him. It happens to players in their early stages. Only with experience they will gain confidence and become more effective. Which is exactly proved by Zaheer in WC 2011 finals. Zaheer, Munaf, Nehra all have played in Worldcups before whereas this was Sreesanth's first worldcup. He was part of 2007 team but didn't play in any game. Sreesanth was the last minute inclusion in to the team, still he played ahead of Nehra in the opening game against BD. So your claim that he was not able to make it top 3 is not true. :winky:

Except Sreesanth is 28 and has been playing international cricket for almost 6 years. At this rate, he might learn something about bowling effectively when he's 65.

Nehra , the man whome he replaced in the finals, has double the exprerience than Sreesanth. But he couldn't stop SA taillenders from scoring 13 runs in the final over in the league match :giggle:

Nehra also bowled superbly against Pakistan especially in the death, bowling yorker after yorker making their batsmen look completely stupid where he bowled 10 overs for 33 for 2 wickets. He gets a lot of criticism and sometimes deserves it but Nehra has suffered more serious injuries than any recent fast bowler yet he shows the heart, dedication and commitment to keep coming back to try his best. If Sreesanth only had half of that kind of commitment he would be an amazing bowler but he doesn't. And yes we do have other options. They just have to be groomed instead of giving this donkey more and more ODI chances when he clearly doesn't deserve it. And stop making excuses for this clown. At first you said it's because bowlers in their early days can have bad spells but that clearly isn't the case for Sree who's been sucking in ODIs for the past 6 years. 44.1 Nehra to Wahab Riaz, no run, 81.2 mph, a very full delivery outside off bursts past the outside edge as Riaz tries to drive 44.2 Nehra to Wahab Riaz, no run, 80.9 mph, what is it with the left-arm quicks today? Riaz takes his cue from the Zaheer/Nehra school of batting, backing away to be beaten flailing outside off Mid-on is up, long-off, deep cover, third man, fine leg and deep midwicket are on the boundary 44.3 Nehra to Wahab Riaz, no run, 82.3 mph, bouncer! Again Riaz was making room, Nehra followed him with the bouncer and he was forced to duck Phani is nipping the SRT debate in the bud. "@Pradeep - Totally disagree with you. India won the match 33 times when Sachin had hit a century and lost only 15 times when he crossed 100." 44.4 Nehra to Wahab Riaz, no run, 81.8 mph, another dot ball! Riaz clears the left leg, Nehra hurls down a low, dipping full toss wide of off and it slips past the bat 44.5 Nehra to Wahab Riaz, OUT, 79.1 mph, there's another one! Full and straight, Riaz swings mightily across the line but all he can do is send the ball straight up in the air, an easy catch for Tendulkar at cover. India are just two wickets away from a World Cup final. Pakistan are still alive, but only just. The pressure really told on Riaz there, all those dot balls made him feel as though he absolutely had to hit the boundary Wahab Riaz c Tendulkar b Nehra 8 (16m 14b 1x4 0x6) SR: 57.14 44.6 Nehra to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, 80.5 mph, low full toss, Misbah cracks it to mid-on and they charge through for one "If anyone deserved wicket today it is surely Nehra. Superb bowling Nehra. Take a bow. People will say another master stroke from Dhoni." I suppose they'll have to, Swaraj. Nehra to bowl his last over. Misbah asks for a change of gloves. Long-off, third man and midwicket are out on the boundary, everyone else in the ring 46.1 Nehra to Umar Gul, OUT, 81.0 mph, gone! Full, swinging, and Gul is struck flush on the foot as he swipes across the line. He asks for a review but to no avail, that's stone dead. Gul's unhappy day comes to an end. India are just one wicket away from a dream final Umar Gul lbw b Nehra 2 (9m 3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 66.66 46.2 Nehra to Saeed Ajmal, no run, 81.3 mph, full, hooping through the air around off stump and it's tapped sheepishly to point 46.3 Nehra to Saeed Ajmal, no run, 81.3 mph, back of a length, too quick for Ajmal and he's late on the pull. The ball goes nowhere "@Dave: Banging our heads against the wall and tearing our hair out." Poor Talya. 46.4 Nehra to Saeed Ajmal, 1 run, 78.6 mph, full again, the ball takes a thick edge as Ajmal tries to angle it down and rolls away through gully 46.5 Nehra to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, 81.9 mph, Misbah opens his stance and pushes to mid-on, rushing across for a single 46.6 Nehra to Saeed Ajmal, no run, 80.6 mph, high full toss outside off, Ajmal runs it down to third man but Misbah says no to the single - he's got to keep the strike if Pakistan's slim hopes are to be kept alive The end of Nehra's contribution with the ball, good effort from him

Based on the world cup performance, he doesn't deserve to be in the ODI squad in the England series. But before the world cup he got chance against NZ and SA at home and he had performed well. Against NZ, he played only the first 2 ODIs and then dropped, maybe its due to the fact that he was not in the plans for world cup. He didn't play ODIs against SA in SA. He has been dropped many times from ODI squad in 6 years. But he could make comebacks only because his replacements couldn't cement their place either. If you see the below list of indian pace bowlers in last 6 years, there are lot guys got chances but only few could capitalize it. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?bowling_pacespin=1;class=2;filter=advanced;orderby=wickets;spanmin1=01+Jan+2005;spanval1=span;team=6;template=results;type=bowling Lets see how Vinay Kumar performs in England. I feel Sreesanth will make come back to ODI squad after 3-4 serieses.

MS Dhoni Zindabaad :isalute: Indian selectors Zindabaad :isalute: Tbh, no one cares a damn about him unfortunately. He has himself to blame to a certain extent but you CANNOT have a captain showing 0% confidence in him and picking and dropping him when they feel like it.

In the present lot, Sreesanth is certainly the best (I would rate him above Zaheer) when it comes to bowling with upright seam for swing and pace. Unfortunately he lacks consistency to carry that performance through out a series (or sometime in a test match). His bowling in SA (1st test 2006) was phenomenal and so unlike any Indian pace bowler ever. I just hope he controls his emotions and improves his mental concentration, as he has all that a lethal pace bowler needs.

He has proved many times that he has the abiliity and talent to succeed. But the way our own fans and selectors deal him is pathetic. People are just waiting for his failure for one or two matches to get rid off him from the Indian team. Its fine if we have some better replacements lined up, but the reality is he is far better than the replacements so far. But whenever a new guy comes up knocking for selection, Sree is the first person to go out... :finger:
