Look, if Aaron cannot get no name batsmen from domestic cricket out, how is he expected to get international batsmen out. People really need to think before they post.

Look' date=' if Aaron cannot get no name batsmen from domestic cricket out, how is he expected to get international batsmen out. People really need to think before they post.[/quote'] HE has an average of 18 in one day domestics. Though I believe he still needs to learn to take wickets in FC cricket and Play one-two FC season and get wickets. He is only 21. He has lots of time to his side. BTW, I also believe they could have picked him over Vinay Kumar for ODIs as he has good ODD record till now and Vinay Kumar is also useless and is not a potential long term prospect. Aaron might not have got the game in ODI series or might be one if at all, but the time in the dressing room with senior players would have helped him. If we can pick someone like Unadkat, why not Aaron at least for grooming. This is how grooming is done. Whenever domestic cricket starts, he can gio back and play domestic cricket in India. Right now, there is no domestic cricket after EPT, so he could have been on the bench for this ODI series.

He can play tour games and 1 ODI won't hurt his bowling a lot. It depends on who do you are think are next best bowlers for you. Pick them and give them chance to grow as a player. With no FC cricket now, even just a tour of England would have helped him to learn.

The thing this bowling line up has been missing is a strike bowler. PK is a revelation, he builds pressure amazingly, but the others are too hit and miss. This guy, Varun Aaron, really has the potential to rattle batsmen, and more importantly, crush the tail. I'd love to see Bresnan try and face some 150kph chin music. Yeah so what if he's only 20 or 21, give him the importance of being in the squad and get him coached. Just make sure he doesn't lose his pace, and I think he could really turn things around. I remember when the great Aussie side of the 90s was starting to look a bit feeble, suddenly this speedster called Brett Lee turned up, to support Warne and McGrath further. We don't have any bowlers of that quality, and probably wont ever, but we need to aspire to be like them to support our batsmen. It is possible. The side only needs a regroup, and I think it can come back stronger than ever. Also I dont see Dravid and Tendu going anytime soon, and the same with Laxman. I think they'll look at the 2013 World Test Championship to step down if anything. So still a got a strong squad, just need to sort out the bowling, which in turn will boost our morale, and have positive effects on our batting. As for the number 1 spot. Very sorry to all the Poms, but I dont see England holding on to it for long. Don't see them beating SL at home, or the Indians next year. Anderson and Broad are pathetic on pitches that don't offer assistance, and one Swann wont be enough. But I do agree, England are the most deserving number 1 in test cricket at this point in time, I think their reign will only last 6 months to a year maximum though.
Totally agree with u mate.

Being with the seniors and the national side hasn't helped Umesh Yadav at al.. He is still where he was 2 years ago despite being with the team on and off. In the past it didn't help VRV Singh either who fizzled out despite bowling consistently fast in the domestic circuit. As for your Unadkat argument, well it was wrong to pick him after 2 good performances with the India A side. Wasn't ready for international cricket yet. The same goes for Aaron as well. He has had one good domestic season in the one dayers. Needs to spend some more time playing another season, building stamina and bowling long spells. Is already in the India A team, will play the Irani Trophy and challengers next and then maybe get picked for the Aus tour or the ODIs vs Eng/WI at home.

Hard to do that when you keep hyping him. :cantstop: j/k
I did not hype him. I just said what I saw of him and he has pace up his sleeve, so where I hyped him up. I do not even want him to be selected for tests until he plays a few more FC matches and takes wicket.

I did say he should be playing FC season, but said if there is no FC matches, he could have been with the team training and or playing an odd game. Regarding Yadav, he has not been much with the senior team and only played when we had a very weak team in Zimbabwe. He was only on SA tour and in SL as a net bowler. He has some thing in him that is why Simmons and other ex-players talk about him and grooming is a process which needs to be done continuously. He was picked for SA tour did not play any match and then was dropped from WI tour and Mithun was sent who himself did not anything of note in FC or at international level. First Selections need to be consistent. He should have been picked for WI tour instead of Mithun if he was picked for a tour before, IMO and we saw Mithun was very ordinary. He is still only 23 and is no FC veteran. Players are groomed like that.

aaron may be one of the quicker bowlers in india but he is not that quick ,bowling 140kph consistenly will not make him significantly quicker than any of english aussie saffie pakistani or even wi bowlers ,To really be called a fast bowler one need to clock 150 kph quite regularly ,even if he clocks 140 kmph consistently against say australia it will not have the same effect on their batsman as aussies are more used to playing 140kph than ind batsmen. when a bowler clocks 145kph against india it is a huge advantage for that team because ind bowlers are slow . but an ind bowler clocking 145 kph is not that big an advantage against main test playing country because their bowlers can clock 145kph, this must be understood before creating hype about fast bowlers from india but this should be used as an excuse to discourage pace bowlers . This above phenomenon can be seen in the ongoing ind eng series sure the eng bowlers are sharp but they mainly are bowling around 82- 87 mph ,very few balls have been clocked above 90mph yet english bowlers look so much quicker ,this is partly because ind bowlers are even slower .
No you are wrong. Most batsmen struggle against good fast bowling and there are no fast bowlers even in those teams you mentioned who clock 150K consistently. IF a bowler can clock 145K and be consistent, he can trouble any batsman in the world. Pace is not everything. You need combination. On flat pitches like India most of the bowlers are thrashed where bowlers depend on reverse swing more. In England and SA, you get seam and swing movement, bounce in SA as well. In Aus, you get bounce and seam. SO if a bowler has some pace and can seam the ball just a little, he can be handy. You dont need too much swing at pace. If you are not quick, you need good swing like PK, but likes of Johnson who can bowl quick, a little bit of movement is enough to deceive the batsman. Johnson does not bowl 150K often. He is more 140-145k and he troubled SA batsmen in Aus and SA both. Siddle troubled England in Ashes. Harmison, Jones, and Flintoff are not 150K like Akhtar or Lee, but they troubled best of Australian batsmen. So you cannot say they play fast bowling well. Good fast bowler can trouble anyone. Look at who Ishant troubled Aussies in Australia and even in India when he was MOS.

You need atleast one bowler who can bowl fast in an attack to be successful in all conditions particularly on flat pitches .you need balance we have guy like zak so to support him we need ishant to bowl quick which he has been doing, guys like ishant and sreesanth do not still now how to plan a wicket, zak does it for them, so when he plays they look better.same will happen to aaron if he plays alone we really need a good bowling coach and zak to mentor our fast bowlers

those teams dont struggle as much as ind batsmen against fast bowling , ind seems to be blown away by pace bowlers more often , fast bowling is much more common for all other top test playing countries . at any point of time aus sa pak has a line up of 140k bowlers , even if aaron clock140k regularly he will be sharp but not exceptional. as far as swing and seam ,ind bowlers have the some of the best release of all pacers in the world even aarons release is very good . but some times u need to have a bit of a wobbly seam (not cross seam) to confuse batmen ,upright seam can be easily seen by batsmen ,the ball may not swing as much but it does create some doubt in batsmen by sometimes seaming unexpectedly of the wicket specially on helpful wickets.asif and polly often used wobby seam to decieve bastmen.
Its a myth that they do not struggle against fast bowling , recently johson ran through sa and taylor through england and if you have combination of a good bowlers you will win everywhere

I think they should get him in the squad. Its ****ing disappointing to see Munaf and Sreesanth trundling at 115-120 kmph and batsmen playing them with ease. We need a genuine quick bowler and he will be much more effective in foreign conditions. Another season of domestic cricket on flat, slow wickets may well make him lose his confidence after getting belted on those batting tracks by FTBs and he may be relegated to the side. One of the reasons why Indian fast bowlers dont succeed is because we tend to judge them based on their performances in conditions which have no assistance to them. When they were bowling well, the selectors think let's consider him after another season but he will lose his rhythm by then.
