No way. They're a lousy side on subcontinent pitches, just like we've sucked royally in England. I don't even see them holding onto that #1 spot for as long as we did.

England would do well to hold it for that long.

Even a draw series would ensure that they will remain at the top and this team has capability of doing so for longer than India did.

I would say the whole Indian line up. This number one rating was really over rated.:giggle: I am sure they are good and some of them are great. But no where near the hype they receive:punter:.
Still can't get over the fact that SL lost the WC final to India. :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: You can't even win a single test in India.

There was a discussion on this topic at cricinfo chatterbox, First test, day 3 :--D. On Dhoni's hair

2:57 [Comment From San San : ] I want to see the dhoni play like he did with long hair!
2:57 Liam Brickhill: @ San - that sure was a glorious mane he used to sport.
2:59 [Comment From draven646 draven646 : ] like Samson - Dhoni lost his power with his hair - now he's more of an nudge it around accumulator
3:00 Liam Brickhill: @ draven646 - I'd hardly call him a nudger and a pusher! But there was a certain flamboyance that seems to have gone.
3:01 [Comment From Vijay Vijay : ] @San: Dhoni with the smaller hair won India the world cup, not the one with the Longer Hair. :-|
3:01 [Comment From Gotya Gotya : ] Do you think Dhoni's batting talent lies in his hair? He sure isn't the same ever since his hair became short.
3:05 Comment From RoRo WHats hair got to do with Dhoni's big hitting? Probably the shampoo that Dhoni used for his long tresses had a lot of vitamins which is missing now.
3:06 Liam Brickhill: Ah, RoRo. You're back.
3.10 Comment From soso I suppose vitamins trickle down from the hair to the hand that wields the bat
3:10 Liam Brickhill: You have all been watching too many shampoo adverts.

What has surprised us is that it took so long for you to jump out of the woodwork. After such a detailed' date=' in depth and insightful analysis dripping with wisdom and knowledge I am sure you can crawl right back in. I am sure the WC win is still surprising you quite a bit.[/quote'] Not so much .World cup was 3 match cup and was played in Indian subcontinent .Whenever any tournament is played here Sub continent teams are favorates a

I've always felt rankings are purely obscure. I look forward to the test championships. For instance you ask Ponting if he'd rather be #1 ranked ODI team or world champions what would he say?
You need the test rankings to decide who makes the test championship.

After having seen one of the most pathetic performances from the team in recent memory and having seen everything go wrong that could have gone wrong, the only humiliation left for Indian team is for Swan to get a 6 fer and bowl out India in the second innings. Judging by the way things are going, this is inevitable.

Had to re-read the title of the thread a few times. Thought this thread was about a new-found pace talent called Akhri Khwaish causing terror in the Jharkhand Premier League.
