RP is now between 125 to 135K and sreesanth between 126K to 138K Sree"s swing is missing and his average pace is now 132K. Where as his average pace used to be 136K and faster ones were 146K now faster ones are 137K...so he is 10K less and hardly any swing.
Not to to mention he's still conceding boundaries/runs. Even with reduced pace this clown can't help himself and is spraying the ball.

Bowling at 140 Kmph is not express pace by international standards. It's just a good speed at which if you can control the ball or swing it then you can be very effective.

These two will be at best be at the same pace as Ishant in first class cricket. May go onto improve their speeds as they get experience but as of now they are no better than what Ishant or Sreesanth or Munaf or even RPS were when they started. Let's stop hyping them as if they are some speed demons. Having said this though, I certainyl beliee they need to be sent for the ODIs in England een if they were to be just the reserves there.
No you are not correct here. Ishant played Devdhar trophy final and barely went over 135K or touched 140K. In the same tournament in a match before that, Varun touched 147 and consistently bowled over 140K and also took 5 wickets.

VRV has not even bowled at pace in IPL. He was at his fastest on SA tour 2006 when he bowled up 145K after that he got injured and is never the same bowler. Unadkat is as usual whether it is IPL or any match. He is just medium fast. Munaf patel bowled quick in his first few tests over 140' date= but then setelled for line and length.
Munaf Patel's case should be an eye opener for all the selectors. When Munaf was at his fastest in 2004-2005, when possibly he would be touching 150, he was not selected in the team because the selectors wanted him to gain experience in domestic cricket. By the time he made his int debut, his body was giving up and he couldnt keep up with the rigors of international cricket and gave up his speed. In Akash Chopra's words, Indian board should have stepped up and told him to bowl fast no matter what and he would still be in the team. Perhaps lack of guidance and the easiest thing for him to do was give up pace and try to be a Mcgrath. Result - He is neither Mcgrath, nor a genuine quickie ! He gave up his asset to be someone else ! I remember the board had done the same thing to Atul Wassan. He was genuine quick and bowled lethal in NewZealand. But the board did not even bear his treatment cost when he came back. The dejected bowler was never the same after that ! I hope the same doesnt happen to Varun Aaron. Anna ji, where are you ? Its upto you to make sure Yadav and Aaron are not treated unfairly..Sirji please !!!1:((:((:((

We are indeed privileged to see this "war" in our lifetime. Can you imagine' date=' 2 Indian blokes, having a pace war?[/quote'] :band:......................enjoy

The Indian cricket team's bowling is pretty much like what we see in Indian junior representative cricket teams. I have the opportunity of taking young representative cricketers from NZ to India almost on a yearly basis. Our faster bowlers bowl on those pitches which is brown in colour and a hard surface. The ball comes on to the bat very well, does a little in the air but barely anything off the seam. Despite that our younger ones still bowl with a lot of heart and bowl like fast bowlers rather than medium pacers. We do get whacked around but we obviously don't discourage the bowlers from bending their backs. It takes a toll after a few overs and the recovery takes longer than what it takes in New Zealand. That said I have seen the local Indian age group rep faster bowlers, they barely ever bend their backs. They rely heavily on cutters rather than pace to get wickets. They do get wickets but not as much as their spinners do. They tend to have extremely pleasing bowling actions but barely any pace. A 16-17 year old Indian lad bowls like a 12 year old kiwi boy. Not all of our kiwi bowlers bowl quick enough either considering the conditions in New Zealand in fact is a cradle of medium pace bowling given they don't have to bend their backs to get purchase out of the pitches. Despite that we tend to bowl twice as quick as the Indian counterparts. Just imagine what pace the Indian up and coming fast bowlers must be bowling in that case? Fast bowling is a culture, India doesn't have enough fast bowling idols to get inspiration from. Given the harsh conditions, bowling fast is not fruitful and long spells are nigh impossible to bowl. The bowlers can't afford to stray in the lines and young ones find it quite hard to have the control when they try to bend their backs. This discourages the bowlers from bowling fast in India and they would rather bowl military medium picking up one or two wickets while the spinners will look to pick up 5 fers. Still in my opinion fast bowling in India is more of a mere formality than a permanent fixture. The fast bowling culture needs to be developed from grass root level rather than get someone to bowl fast once they make it to the domestic teams.

Great post! I understand about the climate being hot and humid, but isn't there a way the pitches can be made conducive to pace so that Indian kids feeling like bending their backs. At least leave grass and make them hard and fast. Or is it in the clay that prevents one from doing that?

Or is it in the clay that prevents one from doing that?[/quote'] The kind of grass that is usually found say in NZ or UK doesn't seem the same as found in India. The grass isn't live and when I say that the grass is brown as well :nervous: It must be the sun. Green, live grass seems to effect the movement of the ball more than the brown one. Brown one I have found aids consistent bounce particularly with a hard surface underneath. I think more than that it is also the attitude to fast bowling. We have played so many age group teams in India and I can't think of one bowler that was brisk let alone quick. All the teams we have played so far (about 10-12 of them) have had two medium pacers. One a very lanky one that has fantastic action but with barely any effort at the delivery stride and another just a average built medium pacer. Never come across a team that has had over 3 fast bowlers in a team. Contrast that to teams we take over to India, we will definitely have two out and out fast bowlers, two fast medium bowlers at least and couple of medium pace bowlers that are more or less batsmen.

guys even afghanistan has faster bowlers than ind hamid hassan bowls around 140k & he seems to pick up 3/4 wickets every time i follow him ' date='i know opp is not that great but still the guy seems to be better than a lot of ind pacers, .even when india were up against bangladesh in 2007 & 2010 ban bowlers bowled quicker than ind bowlers .[/quote'] Maybe we should start getting pacers from Afghanistan and spinners from SL just like Eng managed to get folks in from SA and Ireland :haha:

Varun Aaron(140-145kph,fastest 153kph),Umesh Yadav(140-145kph,fastest 152kph),Rahul Shukla(never saw him bowl live but I heard he's as quick as Aaron),Sudeep Tyagi(135-140kph,fastest 145.6kph) & Abu nechim(138-144kph,fastest 147kph) are the 5 fastest bowler in Indian domestic circuit right now.We need to give them enough chance in the helpful conditions to build on the bench strength.Zaheer is out of gas,Munaf & Praveen are good as back up bowlers not as strike bowlers,Sreesanth is very inconsistent,RP is pregnent,Nehra is handicapped(he was throught) so we've only 1 consistent good bowler in Ishant(Zak is always injured middle of an important series). So after getting thrashed 4-0 by the poms it's the high time to blood some young bowlers with pace.Above mentioned bowlers are the best we got right now(ignoring Mithun & Unadkat).
