NO. First of all, it's only commerce. So it misses out on the cream of the students, the science crowd. Second, where is the campus? In KC college :hysterical: Jai Hind is the best college in Mumbai.

Its not about bullet trains/maglevs but fundamental necessities like safety, hygiene, punctuality among others that are below par. I disagree. The safety, hygiene and punctuality of IR are quite good when you think of the volume of people/material transported. I've read that their ticket booking software is one of the most complex and sought after in the world. The reach ( in terms of connecting even to the remotest parts of the country) of the railway system is also fantastic. I'm not saying that there isn't any room for improvement. But can't deny that it meets expectations and sometimes delivers more.

If one does 1-1 comparison of travel on Indian train with some phoren one - we may lack in cosmetic features and some punctuality issues. But people forget that no other country in the world has solved the problem at such a large scale (barring China). Slightly related (to support the point regarding volumes) I've worked on a data-replication s/w (Canadian). It would work fine other countries (US/UK/Europe), but it just wouldn't work for many months on Vodafone/Airtel level of volumes (call data record) - and that was PoC (proof of concept) phase.

Its the quality of teachers, students and the management that make colleges good or bad. yes the college is in the campus of KC Law College, but the trust that runs the college is all the same, so it need not hunt for new buildings when the space is readily available. Plus the fact that our Principal is the Sheriff of Mumbai does help my point :winky: And what do you mean Science Students ? And Jai Hind :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: I l tell you a little story. Last year, I had taken part in our college festival called "Malhar" (I am sure you would be knowing this). It was a quiz competition and the winners were our batch :proud: There was a question based on Science - It was about a chemical reaction and the residue (Precipitate left after a reaction) and one of our group members had the answer for it in less than a second, while jai Hind fellows were still writing the equation and trying to make out which ppt. could have been made :hehe: He said that he had learned all that in 10th standard and he still remembers it pretty well (like after 3 years). So the moral of the story is : HR College is the best College in Mumbai :proud:

HR is more of a melting pot for all the South Bombay snobs, but they do have fab Chinese in their canteen :D It was also much better when Indu Shahani was the principal back then. Ever since she left, it's kind of lost its 'sheen'. As far as college campuses go, Xavier's and Sophia's come out tops, but as an educational institution in Bombay (barring those like IIT and TISS), Xavier's is by far the best.

I'd read somewhere a while ago that she'd left as princi when she decided to take on her Sheriff duties full time? Yeah, I did Commerce there in JC. Anila Pillai was Vice Principal then.

Oh, that's good then. When I was in HR I had 0% attendance with a bunch of 4-5 others, and Anila Pillai (b!tch!) had dragged us to Shahani, who turned out to be an angel and very politely asked us to start attending without giving us any rapta :cantstop: She's done a lot for that college. And I did BMM (Advertising) from Xavier's after JC coz I realized how much I hated Commerce and couldn't be damned to pursue it. Hope Gunner doesn't mind us taking this thread off course for a bit.
