I loved his movies and I think the couple of movies he did in combination with Naseerudin Shah were just a masterclass in acting. Your thoughts? Great actor. Met him a couple of times in Bombay, a great person as well. His show, whose name I forget now :(( , was one of the rare ones that I used to watch.

Loved some of his comedies.

I've seen his play ' Tumhari Amrita' 4 times. :icflove: His portrayal of Zulfi in that play is probably the best instance of acting I've ever seen. And the best part is that after the play he used to ask for feedback. Interact with the crowd for a good 30 mins. All this for a play that has been doing very good for the last 15 odd years the world over. And he incorporates the feedback and modifies the play/his acting accordingly. Too bad he couldn't recreate the same success with his mainstream cinema.

Girls, in particular, sported salwar that seemed like baggy pants, kameez used to have puffed shoulders and the hair..well lets not even go there. For crying out loud Dipak Tijori used to be a model in those days. Yep Deepak Tijori :giggle: :D You are right. I can't look at Jackie in isolation. The period you mention was the worst when it came to dressing. I remember Aamir Khan wearing pink jeans and a blue shirt in QSQT. :whack: Dipak Tijori sported a mullet those days. That was his usp, I think. So did Sanjay Dutt in his initial days. Ditto Bobby Deol. Somehow that goes very well with the Indian public. Both girls and guys. That being said I also sported a yellow jeans gallantly for 2 solid years in my Engineering college days. Good thing nobody ever took a picture of it. Had you been in my college, you would have been ragged mercilessly for wearing yellow jeans. Luckily you did engineering. That species doesn't have much of a fashion sense, I hear. :P

Oh,Farooque Shaikh was really underrated as was Deepti Naval. I think some of the films from the 80s (or "parallel cinema" as they call it) were the best in terms of content,social awareness ,direction and performance.Most of the actors and directors were FTII and NSD alumni and from the interiors.One needs to experience life in order to portray cinematic magic . Nowadays all these "actors" undergo some sort of course where they are taught horse riding , dancing,fighting at Taneja acting school :giggle:

What are these nostalgia like Rajeev? Do share, lets see how it was growing up in Mumbai in 80s.

Add to this Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Amol Palekar, Sanjeev Kumar and Smita Patil. All of these guys made movies worth watching back then.

Another guy that did not get too many opportunities is Pawan Malhotra.
