maniac Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Any gamblers on board???If you are a phattu gambler like me or a high roller share your stories or escapades Recently lost $1500 in Vegas felt miserable...Saw this couple playing slots win $1000 with 1 cent...I never seem to have luck like that Too scared, lazy, broke and pessimistic to buy the lottery but heard about these group of people who used to allocate some money every month and buy various numbers for the lotto to increase their odds of winning and apparently one fine day won it...Meri aisi kismat kahan Any inspirational stories...Could have a fairy tale ending or tragic ending like mine...
punjabi_khota Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Lottery is a tax imposed on stupid people. Don't do it.
maniac Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 Feel free to change the titile to your gambling escapades... Also another story and this should probably be in the confession thread as well but in 1996-97 Sahara cup I bet 500 rs with a local sattebaaz in Mumbai on Pak...No patriotism or sentiment here wanted to win money badly this was the game Dada owned Pak taking 5 wickets...On a normal day this would have been an awesome moment for me with both India winning and Dada getting a fifer but not this day...

Slot machines are absolute blackholes for money. You can still develop profitable skills in Poker/21. Haven't yet gambled with real money (except only once with friends), but I have spend quite a many hours playing poker online. And playing poker in Vegas, on full weekend is one of my 'bucket list'.
akshayxyz Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 on topic. The greatest gambler. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stu_Ungar Personality section is a must read.
maniac Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 ^ On top of being money-gobbling machines,I tend to find it very tedious and boring to play them too...I was down mostly playing Blackjack,Roulette and Craps
Desi Cartman Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Rule number one of gambling: know when to get up for which you need to set a limit before you enter the casino. Btw slot machines are for retired people :phehehe:

akshayxyz Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 btw - if you read the confessions thread - Rajiv has been compulsive gambler from quite a young age.
Rajiv Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 not anymore, I goto casino with $100-200 with an intent to enjoy it with drinks and platy poker/Black jack
maniac Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 Probably he will have some good stories to share... Despite the hole in my pocket personally I witnessed some really cool and bizaare moments especially this Gujju family Dad,Mom,Son and Daughter/D-IL I think or the other way round, within less than an hour lost like 2000-3000 bucks on roulette and what's more amazing was didn't even seem to regret it where as I lost like $1500 mine and the mrs included, over a span of 4 days and felt like ****... I was tempted to ask these guys what they do for a living
BERGKAMP Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Biggest win - In 2009 I bet £10 on 10 golfers to win the Open Championship. One was Loius Oouistheizen who I had got at 400/1 on betfair for a win of £4000, not a bad return for a stake of £100 total :D Biggest loss - I play quite a lot of online poker (around 2 hours each nights on $0.50 / $1.00 cash tables) but in the early days when I was still learning the game I went on tilt and blew $800 in one night playing on stupidly high limits way above my bankroll. Also normally every weekend I also do football accumulators on the premier league for stakes of £10-£30. Last season I started with £100 in my betfair account and ended with £1200.
DomainK Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 We all take our chances in life. Isn't that a kind of gambling? So everyone is a gambler.
Cricketics Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Mostly I am into betting. Not that much into gambling.
Alchemist Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 When I was in Indy, I would sometimes go to near by casionos. Always came back green. The trick is, you should know when to stop. Or else you are gone. Won $1500 on $ 5 once.
Desi Cartman Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Rule No 2. Dont get drunk if you are not gambling for the LULZ. This is my personal FAIL story. I once started with 20 bucks and made $800 + I would have spent at least 100 bucks on drinks (dont ask.. scotch is too expensive in casinos and its too small). So while my wife was trying to convince me to buy her a 400 dollar bracelet with that money I spotted Casino War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casino_war) Its a quick game where you double or nothing your money. I put 200 and got back 400, so I was 1000 up but then I went mad and started putting 200 dollars on each bet and less than 2 mins, it was all gone.. Well in the end I do regret but at the same time I play for the lulz and not to make a living out of it but to dump the winnings like I did wasnt very smart.. so lesson here is : DONT GET DRUNK WHILE GAMBLING ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE WINNING
IKnowU Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I blew $200 from $20 playing full tilt poker :(( So depressing. :sniffle:
