Pietersen rested for India ODIs

England have rested Kevin Pietersen for the upcoming ODI series India and called-up Durham allrounder Ben Stokes. Pietersen is left out as part of the selectors' ongoing policy of 'managing player workloads'. Stokes is the only one of the three debutants from the one-off ODI against Ireland to have made the squad with Ravi Bopara holding his place ahead of James Taylor and Scott Borthwick not selected either. While the ODI squad is largely similar to the one that beat Sri Lanka 3-2 earlier in the summer there are maiden Twenty20 call-ups for Somerset wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler and Nottinghamshire opener Alex Hales. Luke Wright and Michael Lumb are the two dropped from the team that lost to Sri Lanka in the one-off Twenty20.

good squad, giving youth a chance to bed in and gain some important experience, plus they're really promising players anyway. India could learn a thing or two from this, hope they give some new boys a chance

This is your full strength team minus KP. And KP has been useless in this format anyway. I reckon he has been dropped.

Yeah, that seems to be the case this time.

Yeah but you only bring in one or two at a time, that is all that is needed. KP just finished highest run scorer for the series, he wasn't dropped. I know his average is bad but he is one of England's best players anyway, stuck with him through poor times and no way they're going to drop him now he is back on song!

So you've gone from talking like this was England's C team with all main players rested to accepting that this is actually your BEST team minus 1 player. Cool.
Well if that is how it came across that was a mistake, was just making the point that its good for the team to give youth its chance even at the expense of 'star' players.

We've been trying new players or giving others a potential comeback in WI/Zimbabwe and whenever possible.

If you say so fair enough, didn't seem that way in the series just gone

Ben stokes-Another import:hitler:
Are you taking the piss? Stokes moved to England when he was 6 and the only time he has been back to NZ was in the U19 WC (where he smashed India around) Chat **** get hit.
