That would have been awesome. Overall I would prefer Lee because Tait is unable to bowl in all formats of the game due to his body.

Gotham Cronie Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 The proof of the pudding is in the eating - it doesnt matter to me if a bowler is 115 or 150mph as long as he makes the batsman fumble or keeps smacking him all over the body - thats obviously the psychological blow that expedites a wicket. In that Akhtar clip, Ponting survived that over and wasnt dismissed after another 81 runs were added. Ponting 197, Akhtar 1-74 off 16 overs. But we're not talking about entire innings. The title of the thread is "fastest over."

Jeff Thompson had bowled faster over to Boycott. This was good and fast but not the fastest. Lee and Tait have bowled faster than this. You dont need to see speed guns. Your eyes tell whether we have seen faster than this or not. I would say this is the fastest over you would ever see by Jeff Thomson. Sorry sir,but nobody is talking about quality here.they records and achievements speak for themselves.but most older fast bowlers make mythical comments about how fast they were ,with no evidence just stories to back it.as in any sports todays bowlers are quicker and next gen will be quicker than current gen.

Apart from Jeff Thomson, I dont see any one from past as quick as Lee, Akhtar, Tait, or even Bond. Maybe Dennis Lillie in 1971, Holding at the start, or Frank Typhoon Tyson can come close, but still behind. They are greats, no doubt, but speed is a different thing. It does not make some one great or bad, it is just an x-factor to have. Greatness comes with how skillful some one is with or without pace and how many wickets he has taken and how he has earned respect form top batsmen of his time. Also quality of batting, playing condition, and other factors like pitches also determine the total quality of cricket.

That was reasonably entertaining - more so for Justin Langer, who was at the other end laughing at me all the time when I was trying to keep Shoaib's deliveries out.
