EPL doesn't have a shorter version where quality is compromised in the name of entertainment.

Well ODIs are a shorter version of tests and the ODI WC is the biggest tourney in cricket. Do you consider the 50 over world cup also a compromised version in the name of entertainment?

in 50 overs cricket there is sufficient opportunity for players to showcase their ability.

good answer. :two_thumbs_up: While it is true that most players have to resort to mindless slogging due to the limited deliveries available, some like Gayle have found way to showcase their ability even in this format. main thing going for T20 is the amount of time it takes to finish a game. 3 hours can be fit into a person's daily schedule (after work, part of a weekend day, etc) as opposed to a full day in case of ODI or 5 days in case of tests. yes, downside is that it doesn't give batsmen enough time to build an innings.

:D I think the ICC has mismanaged this format from the very beginning by selling it purely as cricketainment and as a result, while some new people have started watching the game, they are usually not impressed by the quality and will certainly not become "fans" of the game. On the other hand, many people who passionately follow cricket (for ex : me :--D) are not impressed by this format and try to discourage people from following this form of cricket. In any sport the main emphasis should be on the game but that does not seem to be the case with t20 and that is its biggest drawback.

The main emphasis is still the game here, just that it is shortened. Focus is still on winning games and championships.

Main emphasis is not on the game, are they playing with racquets and tennis balls .Its all same , difference is just there are lesser number of overs which force the players to play shots which they will not play in normal circumstances. This is not the most challenging format of cricket but still the bottom line is it involves cricketing skills.

Empty stadiums Tactless organizing Ordinary sponsors During the first game, they rolled out a Red Carpet to first welcome the teams. Ruhunu came out with half their batters in pads. Post the intro, they went it. While coming out, 2 of the organizers were pulling the red carpet away, live on camera, while Jayasuriya who was walking on it with his partner was looking amazed. What kind of sadakchap organizing is this? The beginning of the end is here.
