Aaku Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Satisfied with life, couple ends life in Goa ( PANAJI: A young couple working in the IT industry committed suicide by hanging themselves at their residence in Merces, just outside Panaji. The decomposed bodies were found by Old Goa police on Thursday night after neighbours complained of a foul smell emerging from the flat. Police suspect the couple-Anand, 39 and Deepa Ranthidevan, 36-from South India committed suicide three days ago. "They had checked out of a city-based 5-star resort, where they were staying for the last two months, on October 3," police said. A suicide note in English, singed by the couple and dated October 3, states that the couple ended their lives of their own free will and no one should be held responsible or accountable for it. The couple removed the ceiling fan in the drawing room and hanged themselves to a rope tied to the hook. "We suspect that they stood together on a stool and tied themselves with one end of the rope each and then pushed away the stool," police sources said. The single-page suicide note, addressed to "whom it may concern", states, "We have lived a very eventful and happy life together. We've travelled the world, lived in different countries, made more money than we ever thought possible, and enjoyed spending as much of it as we could on things that brought us joy and satisfaction. We believe in the philosophy that our life belongs to us and only us, and we have the right to choose to die as much as we have the right to live." The note further mentions that the couple leaves no liabilities or debts behind. There is a list of their properties, including a jointly-owned flat, attached to the suicide note. "They have also kept their last will and testament with respect to their belongings, duly signed by them," sources said. The two have asked the finder of the suicide note to cremate their bodies in the government electrical crematorium after informing the families. "They have kept Rs 10,000 in cash in an envelope to be used towards expenses for cremation....," police sources said. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem to Goa medical college and hospital and intimated the relatives of the deceased. "They have said they are too old to travel and asked us to perform the last rites. We have asked them to give this in writing," police added. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Satisfied-with-life-couple-ends-life-in-Goa/articleshow/10272043.cms
bulbul Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Satisfied with life, couple ends life in Goa :(( http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Satisfied-with-life-couple-ends-life-in-Goa/articleshow/10272043.cms Open this as a seperate Thread ....verym different matter...first time i am hearing this...Its like Jains Swamijis (guess) who used to die on their own after they life is full filled some thing
Clarke Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 RIP i guess .. should make use of the years/monies to bring happiness to others.
bulbul Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I dont know how to react to this when i first saw this in TOI on morning... How they decided they fulfilled life i dont understand... hope no foul play involved... RIP.....
Rajiv Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 This doesn't sound right at all. A person who is that emotional and happy would want to live, help others instead. Its hard to buy this reason
Pagalpanti Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 ^ +1 How could anyone possibly wanna die if they are satisfied? Well whatever the case, news like these always depress me. The value of life has become so cheaper, suicide happening everywhere.
DomainK Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 People are known to have committed suicide when they believe their life us at it's best because they believe the only way from there is down. They feel so threatened by the possibility of losing all that they have that they feel it's better to die than see that day when they dont anymore have the same wonderful life.
Rajiv Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 ^^ But too young to think that way, don't you think. Anyways, no one will know the truth and everyone has to go by the note but something like this won't even sit well with the cops
nikred Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Satisfied life is a bizarre reason to commit suicide at an age around 40. Maybe there is more to it than they wanted any one to know.
WC2011INDIA Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Maybe someone forced them to end their lives, and he left a fake suicide note....
ganeshran Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 I wouldnt be surprised if TOI selectively quoted from the suicide note to give the story a sensational angle
MonishaSarabhai Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 i cannot imagine being happy as a reason for ending your life. i find this entire story weird, especially the fact that none of the relatives want to come perform the last rites. RIP
anotherhawkeye Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 This doesn't sound right at all. A person who is that emotional and happy would want to live, help others instead. Its hard to buy this reason Different strokes for different folks...As I become older, nothing humans do surprises me any more...They didn't harm any one and they achieved what they wanted, so good for them.
Aaku Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Reminds me of another peculiar suicide by a man in US. Before he unloaded the bullet in his skull' date=' he found time to author a, hold your breath, 1905 page long suicide note. Read about it in the Crimson. http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2010/9/22/heisman-harvard-mother-death/ bete ki jaan :omg:
