ravishingravi Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 My money is on Modi and Nitish Kumar. I think Nitish should probably have another term in Bihar. Modi is the best administrator the country has seen in ages. He is exactly the leader I envisage for India. However, Gujarat riots have quite possibly ended any possibility whatever be his extent of guilt.
ganeshran Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 :fear: :(( 85% quota in all colleges. Maya Pyramid :fear: Kangress Zindabad .. :winky: I dont think Maya will increase any quotas if she becomes the PM. It would work against her since it would make the general castes suspicious of her intentions and weaken the government that itself would be weak given the huge egos in the the third front. She would rather concentrate on bringing in unabashedly populist measures to bolster her popularity with the entire economically backward section and preempt any move to destabilize the government. Of course, such a policy could be economically disastrous for us since its already becoming difficult to rein in inflation.
beetle Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Nitish does not have mass appeal outside Bihar. BJP has 0 chance if anyone apart from Modi runs for PM. It probably has 20-30% chance with Modi. This may have been true in the past but his recent work in Bihar has made him a very respectable and liked man.He is the NDA's best bet...rest all the candidates are too busy pulling each other down.

However' date=' Gujarat riots have quite possibly ended any possibility whatever be his extent of guilt.[/quote'] Never really got the last part, why has that issue been going on for so long and already given proof to prove his government did their best. And why there are any accusations about Congress government being guilty in failing to react to terrorists attacks? We never see them getting blamed in the press.

CSK Fan Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Never really got the last part' date=' [b']why has that issue been going on for so long and already given proof to prove his government did their best. . What proof? The entire state machinery has been trying to protect Modi and its transparent to anyone with an iota of common sense. Even the top cop is being relentessly prosecuted just because he testified. How can a common witness testify in such a scenario? A common Indian is not so foolish no matter what ayone thinks
gs Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Why is this "anti minority" tag being selectively applied to Modi alone? What about attrocities against the Sikhs in 1984 with tacit approval from the central govt and Rajiv Gandhi? If judiciary has dismissed the accused for 1984 incidents for lack of evidence, let the same yardstick be applied to Modi and let's get over with it. Common man in India is not foolish, but is generally disinterested in the events that shape the future of the nation. This indifference and apathy will cause tremendous harm to him and the future generations!
CSK Fan Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Is rajiv Gandhi standing for elections now? Our democracy has matured a lot since 1984. The common man knows that India is tied by a fine thread of unity. any temporary development is not worth dividing the country over. Just like cricketers used to get away with tampering and fixing in the past, doors trust mean we should overlook the ones getting caught now,?

The only reason India has evolved to whatever extent on last decades is because of growth. If it wouldn't have been the economic growth, the idea of India would continue to be very very vulnerable. I believe if Modi delivers growth and development, people will forget and forgive everything. Is that right ? I don't think so.
beetle Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 While Modi has proven himself to be a good administrator,I have serious doubts about selecting a man who could not bring order to his state for so long and let it burn the way he did.How can we trust him to to keep order if the situation arises again ?

And simple why raise such an issue again and again. What about Congress and how their government has failed to handle every terrorist attacks in the last 10 years. Never have they been blamed. It does not make sense, if something bad happens in one area, blame the whole system, but if something bad happens in Gujarat, blame Modi and blame him forever.

He was the chief minister when his state was burning. He failed miserably in bringing order. That is a big negative.
someone Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 He was the chief minister when his state was burning. He failed miserably in bringing order. That is a big negative. That does not answer my question. Read above again..... And again he has gained the order back, why do people forget that.
beetle Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Gained the order at what cost? Violence like that cannot go on for ever.It had to stop some day .As a leader he failed miserably in keeping peace in his state . As for your question about the congress....this is a thread about the PM candidates from NDA and not about congress. His inability to keep order for so long in his state is something that goes against him.

His inability to keep order for so long in his state is something that goes against him. Again that does not answer the original question? Why is he only being signaled. His government failed and since then, they have done very well. It is just about a general principle where there is so much politics for one single person.
beetle Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Of all the other NDA candidates who has been the one who failed in this. A failure of that that magnitude cannot be "made over".It stays in your record.Would you let a General who lost a battle another chance to lead your country in a war ? I wouldn't. Nitish Kumar wins hand down in a fight between the two. What was your original question?
beetle Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Is your question about not controlling terrorism? Did the NDA manage to control it when they were in power? Bastards had a minister escort the terrorists to Kandahar. The same terrorists who are in command now and continue to be a thorn in our flesh.
seedhi Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 As things stand today, it can be said confidently that the NDA (or whatever is left of it) will lose the next elections. But going with Modi injects an element of uncertainty, simply because he is a polarizing figure. If the NDA loose with Modi it will be a with a bigger margin compared to the case if NDA had gone in with Jaitley or Nitish. But with Modi there is also a small possibility of a surprise win. Its like a gamble, Modi may win the election for NDA/BJP or he may gift the Congress a landslide.

Khalpat Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Is your question about not controlling terrorism? Did the NDA manage to control it when they were in power? Bastards had a minister escort the terrorists to Kandahar. The same terrorists who are in command now and continue to be a thorn in our flesh. Isnt this term too harsh, Bastard, well we didnt have any law till that time for such scenario. Families of 174 members were standing in front of PM office, crying and asking for mercy. Picture of killed newly married Rubin Katyal was all over media. I really do not think this word would have been used by you if one of your family member was also in the hijacked plane. Let me make one thing clear 1999 was different than 2011. After the death of Indira Gandhi, RAW and other intelligent agencies were really in very bad condition, we never had intelligence agencies like MOSAD, so thinking of something wat Ajay Devgan did in Zameen after watching movie does not fit into real world. Government did not took extreme step of taking millitary action cause India was at the behest of economic progress any war would have just brought us back by 30 years. They took lineant approach and that was negotiated with them and out of 35 only 3 were release do remember rest 32 are still in jail. Jaswant Singh did not escorted the terrorist do not use this term for ex army officer, no body will do that not even Lalu or Mulayam or Sibbal, he went to escort his 150 remaining countrymen as they were not sure whether the terrorist will release after this or not. Having said that, its not that Vajpayee gov was totally innocent in handling. I have spoken to few millitary and RAW personnels and they said they were ready for any action at Amritsar but it was a late response from New Delhi which lead the Plane to fly. This question must be answered by some body from that gov as to why was the delay.
