CG Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 He bowled 80% short deliveries today. If you need to take wickets' date=' you must bowl fuller like he did at Perth. Persistence is the key. Today, he bowled like [u']Sreesanth. When did sreesanth go for 7 an over in tests in a day?.You can't bowl fuller when the pitch is doing nothing and nothing is happening in the air.You need to persist on good length but he was mostly shorter than that today,Also if he bowls short it has to be like a fast bowler bowl bouncers then yorker not back of length balls which are waist height .
CG Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 yes that is what they need to do. They are not gonna get many wickets bowling short against Aussies. Bowl them where you can take their wickets fuller outside off stump and set the field according to that. Most teams have got ponting off short ball recently but they used it sparingly and the height of the ball was at throat not at waist level.
Cricket Tragic Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 It's true. :dontknow: The guy has tailunt but he bowled some real rubbish today.
Pagalpanti Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Had an off-day. Hopefully turns up in better frame of mind tomorrow.
Magneto Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 With all these bowling nautanki going around, Sreesanth is gonna become a certainty for the NZ series. Hope he takes the opportunity and turns his career around.
Cricketics Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 One thing I noticed about his bowling. He tries too much. I mean, the way he ball those block holes and yorkers which hits the toe of the batsman's bat, you can clearly see the guy is trying to do too much with the ball. It's a good strategy for odi cricket, but in test, you have to bowl those good lengths and other lines. You can get a beauty of a yorker ball, but a good bat like Punter will easily negotiate the Yorker. I hope he learns from all of these.

He needs to add a bit more variation more importantly accuracy to get those Sohaib Akhtar's occasional blistering spells.

He needs to add a bit more variation more importantly accuracy to get those Sohaib Akhtar's occasional blistering spells. But you can't be trying that every ball. I think he tries to wokr on that delivery too much. You would see bowlers like Pollock, Mcgrath sticking to a plan. Bowling same line and Length. I mean it's a common sense thing. You don't want to look predictable with same yorkers. Though if you bowling the same good length or shoulder height, you would just irritate the batsman and would eventually get him out.
asterix Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Dissappointed by his bowling..Still early days for him in his career, but I cannot belives our bowlers are not able to execute any sort of plans. I think the Coaching department has gone bankrupt..

He does not need to look at replicating anything extraordinary, just look at how the Australians are bowling. I don't think it would be hard for him to be more consistent. Most of the time when he strays on to the pads or gets hit down the ground, he is trying the yorker or something different. It's about mindset I think.

He is a fast bowler for gods sake,Let him be that he should be used as a strike bowler .He will learn line and length eventually .

I think the Coaching department has gone bankrupt..[/quote'] He bowled well today after lunch, the way I would want him to bowl with new ball as well. I can see where he is going wrong and coach must see it as well. Firstly, he has rarely bowled well with first new ball in his short test career and the reason that I see behind this is he gets too excited and tries to ball 145K from ball One which leads to be erratic. He needs to learn the art that you must settle into a rhythm, a good line and length for firs 5-10 and then steadily increase the pace. This way he can bowl at pace while he is already bowling in good areas. It will give him leeway. The other issue I saw is that he is not bowling enough outswingers to right handers which we saw from him against West Indies. His stock ball must be outswingers to right handers which is the hardest delivery to face for any right hand batsman and then in between can mix them up with inswingers.

He already has both, but my point is he should bowl outswingers more than inswingers. Ooutswingers should be stock balls while inswing a surprise ball like James Anderson bowls who maiunly bowls outswingers, but suddenly can surprise the batsmen with inswinger as well and yadav is certainly quicker than Anderson and he will be more effective then. Just sheer pace is not good enough, especially short balls. He can bowl brute of a short ball occasionally like today to Clark which hit his gloves and went in the gap of gully with no fielder there.
saneindian Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Chance for Umesh now to pick some tail end wickets. Has bowled much better today.

Has bowled much better today. i remeb dale steyn interview..he said on some days rhythm is off release isnt proper.. body does not feel right on those days i try to just bowl within myself at start as rhythm builts up i crank it up at end.. problem with young bowler is (even moren morkel!) when rhytm is off they lost the plot completely now he bowled much better today no way his best spell but still not really losing it he is def the find of this series hope he develops into a good bowler like harris(ofc fitter harris ) :P
