The guy never played test cricket so no he cannot be written off and he hasn't played ODI's long enough for him to be considered a failure in LOI's He has been injured not written off

No matter how ordinary the attack is to score 100 runs in a span of 37 balls is difficult to achieve...I am not writing off retard's innings but seeing his ability since then,This was definetely a fluke and obviously the chance for ths repeating is very less... Tendulkar's 200 can be achieved by a highly skilled player with good temperament, stamina in the right conditions.....Tendulkar's effort was against a good bowling attack but I definetely see a good player matching it very soon atleast against a minnow bowling attack on a flat track.
Yes, at first I thought it was a record that would last for decades but then Shane Watson hit a 185 not out in 96 balls and only consumed 26 overs of the innings to do it.

not written off but still not a success story. I know he has got everything needed to become a very good player. In fact we will need players with good technique like him in the future in Tests. He still has the chance to grab one of the spots from the old trio.

He came close to breaking in Kanpur 05. You can fluke one knock but to do it again shows his hitting ability that he had. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/64942.html

Mohd Sami:Make fun of him all you want...we were just drooling over the fact that Aaron and Yadav were touching 140-145 but here is a guy who consistently bowled 150+ and I saw some spells of his in the early part of his career especially in ODI's and my thought was Pak had found another world class bowler but really a weird career.Got all the chances in the world but never cashed in. bits and pieces player Feel free to add more or I will add more once I remember more names
I dont think he was consistently 150K. His pace is overrated. I have rarely seen him bowl 150K. He was more of same pace as Yadav.

Stuart Clark:Whatever happened to this guy....Looked like the next MCGrath...had a very good outswinger, decent pace and impeccable line and length...Did not succeed at the highest level though
Who said Clark was a failure. He has good test average and was successful but then he was dropped because of age factor and they had to bring young bowlers. If you saw Clark is fail then every Indian bowler is fail because there is no one who has as good a bowling as Clark.

There is no doubt that he is by far the biggest hitter in the world but then again, is he consistent enough? We have seen many hitters, some failed, some are the greatest players there are. Jayasuriya, Viv, Sehwag, Dhoni to name a few. Afridi's hitting is a freak show at best but I don't know if it would qualify as fluke b/c the guy hits the ball very cleanly on his day.

 him being crap in test cricket does not change the fact that he was and still is an express fast bowler , sami has bowled spells where he has hit 150 consistently , i can post videos but wouldnt be bothered to , sami was consistently quicker than mitchell johnson in the sydney test , well look at it this way as of now wahab riaz is quicker than yadav and sami is definitely quicker than wahab .umar gul was hitting 150 ks in the england odis and the world cup , doesnot mean he is quicker than sami .

Sami was not express like Akhtar or Brett Lee.

As far as Kanpur goes nearly a decade since his record.....having countless chances in between and trying to attempt the same feat every time....it had to almost come off atleast once....shouldn't it??? Dude I am not saying this because it involves Afretard or bcoz the record is held by a pakistani....If tommorrow even an Indian breaks the record ....I would call that a fluke because consistently hitting the ball cleanly for a period of 35-37 balls is pretty difficult. The only time maybe this may have not been called a fluke was when Jayasuriya circa 96 was almost playing similar innings on a regular basis.Agreed they were on flat wickets and small grounds but in that season he was having an amazing run.... Even Yusuf pathan did it once and yes even that innings was a fluke..

of course he wasnt , but the original poster never claimed that he was as quick as akhtar or lee, he just said that sami had the ability to bowl 150 plus with a shortish runup and smooth action , well we can all agree with that.

Sami did have spells in 150's and I don't remember his pace dipping too often either atleast I never remember his pace dipping to 130's like sometimes Gul,Steyn,Morkel,Edwards and other Quicks who are currently active and capable of bowling in 150's do. The first time I saw him...he had very good swing, seam movement and the lethal yorkers as well and I know we have made fun of him for being super-wayward but definetely pace wasn't a reason for his decline as last time I saw him he was still as quick as any if not more in the paki attack today.

Yaar I have seen Sami to bowl in 130s that is why I am saying he was not like Akhtar or lee. It was his effort balls which used to go 150, but his normal pace was in low 140s and sometimes even low.

Mate I agree with you there that he tried in 300+ games and it came off once in while. Tbh I can't stand the guy for his cheating and brainless cricket. I use to like him and expected him to evolve into a steady performer which he had ability to do(channai 99) but fame got to his head and we had to carry him for over a decade.

Chris Gayle. So much talent and potential, but for some reason has failed to deliver when his team needed him the most. He still has a lot left in him to serve WI cricket. However, WICB is run by bunch of idiots.
