EDIT : Looking back at our previous home Test matches We usually play 2 spinners and 2 fast bowlers at home so its likely both Ojha and Ashwin will play against NZ and England but the question of who will be the long term replacement for Harbhajan is still unclear in my view

At this point Rohit sharma will do.. if we strictly talk about replacing Bhajji not getting a quality spinner.

True. Honestly, I can't see the hype behind Rahul Sharma though I haven't watched him bowl for any decent length of time so I might be wrong and Mishra's decline after his impregnation has been quite astonishing. At the moment, I would even take someone of the quality of Qadir, despite the fun times of having witnessed him being dismantled by Gavaskar, Amarnath, and Vengsarkar.

We play 2 spinners at home so both will play. Ashwin will be the 1st choice spinner abroad until he is dropped or someone better comes along. Ojha is the better spinner of the 2 IMO but he cant field and cant hold a bat.

Rahul Sharma is not worth India A forget about Indian Test Team Aren't their any good spinner coming through in Domestic Cricket? Ojha and Ashwin aren't bad bowler but none of them have really looked like cementing their place in the team (especially when playing abroad) it could be due to their inexperience in Test but we are definitely lacking a quality spinner in our Test team which will be a real weakness for us in the future.

I would give some space for Ojha and Ashwin to grow. As long as we don't have Jaddu trying to sneak in i am fine. Even in domestic circuit pretty much all spinners bar Ojha and Darekar sucked this season. No idea how this left arm spinner Darekar is. He had a decent season. I would rather go with someone like Mohnish Parmar and wish BCCI actually backs its players rather than leave them hanging out to dry. We need spinners like Parmar if we are to compete with the likes of Ajmal, Mendis, Narine etc. Every team is finding a chucker (like Ajmal) or a mystery bowler (like Narine or Mendis) and we have to counter the same. Exactly IPL can be great at bring talent that had gone unnoticed to public spotlight but our spinners need to make the shift from IPL to Test and do it quickly At home we will be fine because these two are great at home conditions but when playing overseas we have problems Its so unlike us to not have a great spinner in the side

Ashwin is sort of the complete package if you're thinking of selecting a spinner for an overseas tour (from what we have on offer) His bowling stats are as good as Ojha but on top of that he's also a pretty good batsmen (Test batting AVG - 35, ODI Batting AVG - 18.5), he's a very good fielder, he's around 6'2 so he will get bounce from wickets and he's got quite a lot of variation. He's nowhere close to the finished article yet but hopefully by the end of next 10 Test at home (2 NZ, 5 ENG, 3 AUS) he would have made the necessary adjustment to become an accomplished Test spinner and our long term NO.1
