Who should be selected for the 5 fast bowling qouta for the Aussie series down under?

Not that I am in favour of it, but I have this gut feeling that he would be brought back pretty soon. Either against the Windies ODI series, to keep him in the equation, or would be given a direct ticket to Australia.

Unless Aaron plays in 3rd test we can't justify taking him to Aus. His FC record also isn't that great. I don't like the idea of taking 2 rookies. I would take Zak, Sree, PK, Yadav, Ojha.

No point taking a bowler like Sreesanth who is getting thrashed in plate league.We cant justify taking him to Aus.His International record in last 2 years also isnt great either.

Stiil his record is better than SreeSanth and atleast he is getting top order International batsmen. Much much better than leaking 6 an over in plate league.

Perhaps, but you can't discard PK due to Aus conditions. When somone takes wickets, they deserve a run. Also PK has got swing in Australia in ODI's. You say he didn't win us a game? How can PK win a game when all the other bowlers don't perform and the batsmen don't score runs??? PK was the only bowler who won the respect of the english fans when I was watching, he was bowling well.

The English fans and commies liked him a lot coz they want him to be playing against them. They were not afraid of him. The english commentators were praising him a lot coz he is a good steady bowler but he couldn't run through English team batting line up in one session or take a quickfire 5-fer. Its a common tactic, you sometimes want some players to be playing against you. Obviously, he is good bowler but he can't run through a top team batting line up

I was at the games and spoke directly to english fans and people I know. They saw him as dangerous and a thinking bowler. So what if he can't get a 5 for in quick time. He was wayyy more dangerous than the others who were struggling to buy a wicket. With a bit more support he may have been able to do more things. To achieve his stats in a series where every other bowler was a joke, is commendable. It's clear you are a pace fan but that is only one dimension of seam bowling.

Okay. I can see and understand the technicality aspect you are putting in. Frankly tell me, when PK was picked for the England tour did you expect him to lead the bowling attack like the way he did ? Agreed, Australia pitches will be quicker, flatter, bouncier, but again as PK himself says, "Ek mauka to deke dekho". And mine was not obsession, it was purely based on performances. He deserves a go ahead if the current selection is between PK and Ishant (if he under performs even in the third test and the practice matches) else it will be unfair. Height, pace doesn't matter. Skills are all that matter.

I was actually not expecting him to become a leader in such a few games. So, as we all know that he is eventually going to play in Australia, lets hope that he do well there and India wins its first series in Australia.

Heard commentators and analysts say they are good against left arm off spinners. But if the choice is straight between Ashwin & Ojha then I would go for Ojha, because we've really played musical chairs with a performer. He deserves a place in any series now. Enough of this changing. Having said that, I would still love to see Ashwin & Ojha even though the wickets will not help. The third bowler won't make any huge merry if the other 2 fail terribly. So what's the big deal ?

Sreesanth had 44 wickets in his first 11 test with an SR in 40s.
