boston legal ...this is one of the best show i saw not for everyone i guess and as said in this thread before the practice can be better show for some people but this ism ore than court room drama.. alan shore's closings are something else even if too political but you can still appreciate it also relation with denny..some scenes like when denny talks about why he gets married so that he can tell stories and get admired you can see admiration on his face while listening glad i did not miss it :P
I agree with you. Boston Legal >>> Thee Practice. What I disliked about The Practice is the constant whining of the characters about their profession. They were all very sad and serious people, good people having to do a bad job, suffering under the burden of the evils that come with the profession and how they are constantly struggling to keep their inner goodness alive in a bad world. Boston legal is the opposite. It has a comic touch which is refreshing. Alan Shore, Denny Crane and most other lawyers are actually happy people. They know what their profession is and they excel at it. They are always positive and optimistic even in hopeless cases. That is why both end up winning even the toughest cases. What I do not like about Boston Legal is the fact that most of the cases heavily depend on the closing arguments. The closing arguments are where the fates of the cases are decided. There is not denying that in the American legal system, the ability to persuade the jury is instrumental in winning cases, but it's not the only way. I miss good cross examination skills, the typical lawyer's ability to dig holes in a sold prosecution case, questioning evidence, skilfully creating that reasonable doubt, creating possible alternative scenarios etc. Boston Legal misses all that. I wish someone created a Perry Mason adaptation, juts like they did for Sherlock Holmes.

totally agree but to me its strength of alan to close like that other characters in show even discussed (jerry with katie ) on how to beat alan its his stylle he himself constantly jokes about long closings :giggle: but man they are still awesome . i think if it was only about court room this show is good nothing special but its more about characters to me ,just remember when shirley says that alan can see darkness in people while its totally opposite when he is with denny its little things i will discuss later when i finish all seasons but i think i am onto why denny and alan are so close..:--D

I watched it. Like you say' date= as a standalone, it's not a bad show. It seems, by coincidence, that the lead character has the same name as the famous fictional detective created by Conan Doyle. Apart from the name, the two characters do not have much in common. Sherlock Holmes of Elementary is a mockery of the original holmes. A very poor joke played by NBC.
well put.

^ Yup. A very different kind of show, Revenge. I also enjoyed it, though I felt that the makers have taken a bit of liberty in certain things. Certain moves made by the lead character look a bit too convenient. It has a touch of fantasy to it. But a very good show nonetheless. Some very interesting characters and situations. I like story lines that explore the dark sides of human characters.

Another thing I hated about Boston Legal was the overdose of Jerry Espenson. That guy slowly became very irritating.
