vishalvirsingh Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Gony is bowling at his best now and is definitely a 130 to 139K Pacer now..has great height ..gets good bounce, can improve and increase pace if he is given a chance and who knows he bowls 140 + in AUstralia..taking him is a good investment, he is definitely bowling good line n length,,evidence is his large no of wickets that he is getting now a days..do u guys think that he can be picked ahead of say PK or sreesanth as UMSH Aroon ZAK and ishant select themselves automatically...can Gony pip PK and Sreesanth to be the fifth pacer as it seems only 2 spinners will fly to Aus and they wud be ojha and ashwin
Raghav_12 Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Ahead of PK? No way. PK has picked some 25+ wickets in 6 test matches he has played at an average around 25. He would be second name, behind Zaheer, in fast bowlers list to be taken to Aus.
vvvslaxman Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 No way. He is another VRV singh. He has a bit of pace.Thats it. He is poorer than albie morkel who is not even 5th choice bowler for SA. He is not even half as good as Balaji let alone PK.

They will pick pick 5 other pacers excluding Zak as he has not yet proved his fitness. Team will be selected on 26th November. Ishant PK Yadav Aaron RP/Mithun/Unadkat/Vinay/Gony These might be first 5 pacers. The way Gony is performing he can certainly be a dark horse because of Jimmy paaji. Zak will be 6th subject to fitness.

I know Zaheer would be only provisionally selected. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/10814821.cms
vvvslaxman Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Have you seen him in the last 2 seasons. He has improved a lot. Just like Irfan , he has also picked few cheap tailenders against Orissa. Still not sold.
Hur Rizvi Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 I havent seen him much apart from Asia cup in PAkistan and in IPL... I feel he is a very average bowler , i would rate Sreesanth and RP ahead of him
ShebbySB Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 My 5 pacers for Aussie tour:-Zak,Ishant,Umesh,PK,Aaron.If any one of them is unfit then Gony may've an outside chance. My dark horse would be Shami Ahmed with his extra pace.Though he's raw & new even in the FC level he's cetainly capable.Believe me he has serious potential. His 140+ outswingers are as good as any in India.

He would be second name' date=' behind Zaheer, in fast bowlers list to be taken to Aus.[/quote'] dont get excited over the Skillset of TRUNDLER King PK.. yadav got 9 wicekts in 2 tests and I bet if he was bowled more , he would have got atleast 12 to 14 wicekts in these 2 tests.....PK was over bowled and as a bowler he got as much as opportunity as He wanted where as Umesh was UNDERBOWLED probably bcos Dhoni did not want YADAV to get a FIFER ..i feel yadav and Aroon will beat all the pacers hands down and dhoni will look like a FOOL who selected VK SREESANTH ishant and PK before aroon in ENgland. I seriously feel it was MOST FOOLISH to ask the same bolwing attack to be selected everytime and loose the series 5-0 ..when u have lost the series why cudnt Aroon be given a chance, Aroon already slapped Dhoni by performing in a couple of 1 day matches ..there also he was massively underbowled........... dhoni under the pretext of saving fast bowlers is seriosuly underbowling umesh ( and aroon earlier)

bajrang Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 no he is nothing special. doing 6 for 143 where unadkat did 6 for 87 in same match is pathetic. unadkat bowls atleast 5-10 K slower then him.
rkt.india Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Sree is serious contender if taking that many pacers' date=' would pick sree over mithun/unadkat/vinay and gony for sure[/quote'] Sree is injured and is not even playing ranji due to toe injury and won't be fit by then.
Cricket Tragic Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Very much a possibility. Hope not.
asterix Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 How can you guys forget Vinay Kumar? Don't forget him..because when he comes back in the team, it'll cause you lot's of unexpected heartburn..Keep one slot free for Vinay Kumar in whichever team you select, if you wish to avoid unnecessary heartburn in future...
